Kogan 4K HDR TVs - 43" [$499], 55" [$549], 65" [$899] @ Dick Smith

40

Dick Smith (now owned and operated by Kogan) have a range of very cheap 4K HDR TVs on offer.

Regarding duty - the Dick Smith website says: "The vast majority of our products incur no additional costs for duties or taxes - the price on the website is the final price. In the rare instance additional duties are required, you will be notified at checkout." I have checked the 65" television by adding to my cart and continuing to checkout, and it does not incur an additional duty.

A 65" TV at $899 with shipping of $112 comes in about $500 cheaper than comparable products at local retailers.

    Are these considered NZ purchases?
As in will you be up for additional import duties for purchases above $400?

Pretty sure OP has answered this :)

  • Shipping cost a lot!

    • im in auckland 2103 and when i bought a 50inch 4k tv off there website about 2 months ago shipping was like $6

    • Their shipping cost is a quite wierd.
Shipping to area code 0629 is $56.99, but shipping 1km away to area code 0630 is $6.99.

I bought a monitor 6 months ago from them and delivery was free as it was with most things on their website back then.

      • It also depends on where it's shipping from. If it's from the NZ warehouse it's generally cheaper than if it's sent from Australia.

  • Any comments on the quality and features of these Kogan sets?
I see the "smarterTV" runs Android, what OS do the cheaper smart sets use?

How do these compare to the Veon's from the Warehouse?

    • I'm under the impression that these are quite sturdy like the Krogan species.

    • i suspect they are just android without googles services to make it legal and possibly lack of updates.
"Customized versions of Android without Google Play are used by many Chinese TV makers for domestic smart TVs"

i don't know the quality but the cheaper ones declare panel manufactures and the smarter ones dont.
its hard to get convinced without seeing the display.

    • From what I have gathered online these tv's aren't very good at all..

Really wish Hisense and TCL were a thing here, cheap tvs but great quality. They have them in aus but haven't made it to NZ sadly. As usual we miss out here.

      • JB stock TCL. I picked one up a couple of years ago on boxing day sale. Absolutely great set for the price!
