This has been discussed in various forums and sounded too good to be true but I just got written confirmation from 2 Degrees today:

"In regards to Huawei P30, there is $400 off the RRP, which means that the remaining amount on the RRP gets spread over the term you choose.

If you wish to cancel the plan , you just pay the remaining on the phone. So, RRP is $1099 with $400 that comes out to $699 which will get spread over the term."

      • Yeah just go in and try your luck to see if your order is ready.

@shriramn yeah managed to figure it out with someone's help, it's the S/N number on the box rather than the imei.

  • Bought the P30 yesterday and tried to cancel yesterday as well. The guy who signed me up must have not typed in my 4 digit pin number properly so when I called to cancel they told me I need to go into the 2degrees shop to cancel which I did today.

A bit of a hassle but it got done. The person over the phone said I will get a bill for the remaining amount on my phone plus $40 for the month. Oh well..

Still haven't received the bill but we shall see.

    • exactly what he told me. Change the plan to a prepay. I'll be charged pro-rata. Will be something around $2 tops

      • From my read of the T&C you shouldn't be charged $40 provided you cancel before your first billing date which is probably about 6 days from when you signed up. To be fair, people who've cancelled on the first day have had a weird thing where they didn't even need to pay for 1 day pro-rata so who knows. But you definitely shouldn't be charged $40. At worst a prorata rate from when you signed up until you next billing date. (Well I guess if your given a billing date 30 days ahead you're screwed but everyone who's reported only had about 6 days.) Not sure if changing to prepaid makes any difference, the T&C still seems to allow them to charge the prorata rate until next billing date if they wish to whatever you do.

Was waiting for my phone so didn't cancel straight away. But didn't want to risk problems so although still waiting, cancelled yesterday. Did actually change from postpaid to prepaid but that was just what she did since I said I preferred prepaid and just let her do it.

        • i would have signed up but I had close to 25 gigs of data on my skinny and i pay only $16 pm. there's no such plan in 2 degrees.

  • has anyone checked to see that their phones accept dual sim? I've checked the IMEI and i've got a single sim only (+nano memory card) version. No dual sim option

    • no dual SIM. single sim + the Huawei propreitary mem card slot.

      • Yes the NZ models aren't dual SIM. Not sure why, maybe dual SIM aren't popular enough in NZ for Huawei to decide it was worth it. Considering the limited real difference between the plans offered and the lack of many special deals except for stuff like Warehouse selling old SIMs and also easy number portability, I can sort of see why. It's probably mostly people who need a separate number for work that want dual SIM.

From what I've read, the P30/Pro are cheaper here than in Australia and elsewhere where the dual SIM are offered so if you don't care about dual SIM it's probably a good thing.

        • would have loved having the dual SIM feature. A lot of cheaper phones like XIAOMI and ASUS offer dual hybrid SIM slots where one of them works as a SIM and mem card slot.

  • bundled accessories are not usually worth it unless you were planning to buy them already

    • Lol, when they can easily take $300 of the phone price and $400 if you lucky….. I'll ignore ya advice and keep my $1100 phone for only $300, u pay full $1100

        "usually"

        • A lot depends on what it's going to be like selling them on TradeMe which we still don't really know given the likely glut and how long it lasts etc.

  • Has anyone got any email confirmation / updates after registering for the watch?

    • +2

No email confirmation.. I had to call them to confirm my registration
Their contact no is on the Giftredeem page. Peter on 0800 845 623, text 0274 741 457 or email [email protected].

  • Has anyone received the watch???

    • I havent received it yet! I saw someone had listed the watch on FB market for $250.

    • I haven't yet (Christchurch)

  • Finally my P30 preorder from PBTech has arrived. Got the message this morning but decided to wait to tomorrow to pick it up.
