  OP, NZ has a customs duty. In future, please include that in your final price as it changes it dramatically. This is the 2nd time I've mentioned this to you.

    I wonder if you ask the merchant to mark the package as a gift or write the value of the package as $10, whether that can slip past customs? I bought a bunch of expensive stuff such as Xiaomi phones and tablets off Aliexpress and also a pair of headphones from another website. Never once did I pay anything extra to customs.
