I've done this myself and can confirm it works with a free trial (cancel before first payment).
I've had an audible trial before and signed up for a new one and it worked.
You must do the following:
- Log in / sign up to Top Cashback (if new use referral below for an extra $10)
- Go to the amazon subscriptions top cash back page (linked)
- Follow the link for an Audible subscription
- Sign up for an audible one month free trial
- Lodge a claim:
