    This sounds pretty good.

    We have a 10k invoice at Harvey Norman to pay this month.

    Does anyone know if my wife and i can apply separately for cards then get 300 bonus airpoints each.

    Do we need to join kiwibank?

      Yes you can apply separately, we've done that before (well, I have applied for my wife too, she's not so interested in deals!).
      You will join kiwibank when you get the card, up to you if you want any other accounts though.

      That normally only means with the same bank, I've had an airpoints earning card with ANZ for years but have always gotten the bonus points like this when I've signed up for cards from other banks and done the required spending.

      i just got approved for amex plat and kiwibank airnz plat. i might apply for westpac one as well. then cancel them all a month later.

      does anyone know if any of them give partial refund on fees when cancelling.

        Doubt it, but some charge half the fee twice a year, can work out well.

        I got 3 or 4 new cards last year, then got rejected by Westpac because there were 'too many credit checks' on me, they wouldn't budge even when I said the cards had been cancelled. I just have to wait for time to pass.

    Westpac and Kiwibank, you can call their credit card team, they will refund you the fee, but i won't have confidence on AMEX. plus, you will need to wait the bonus credited to your account before closure, or you will lose it….
