  • I got one from Dick Smith($385) a couple of months ago and had no problems

  • Interesting. Dse (or kogan shall I say) is in a very good position because they can access Australian wholesale price (which is cheaper than NZ distributor) but also undercut local retailers because they dont have to pay gst on items under 400.

    • Kogan doesnt really access the Australian wholesale prices. The majority of their products are parallel imports which is usually from Hong Kong or China. They purchase it at the wholesale price of Hong Kong or China. A lot of the Kogan branded items are also made in Chinese factories which then slaps on the kogan brand on them and then shipped over to sell in Aus or NZ. An example of this is this samsung watch. Samsung NZ/Aus does not provide warranty for these watches as they are not were not sold by authorised Samsung retailers. These were not purchased from licensed Samsung distributors in NZ or Aus. Thats why warranty is done via Dick Smith or Kogan.

      • Interesting. Are you saying Samsung/LG are making versions of their products specifically for kogan?

I have purchased LG monitors from dse and they seem to have NZ complaint plugs etc rather than the ones for Chinese/HK market.

Having said that they definitely do import products that are not normally distributed locally. E.g. I recently bought a xiaomi air purifier 2 from them which no one else sells them in NZ.

        • No I mean their Kogan branded items. The Samsung LG products they sell are just Parallel imports which does not have Samsung Lg NZ warranty so the warranty gets provided by kogan instead.

        • @Tomo: ok I know what the deal is with kogan branded products like the TVs etc they are not so different (odm from China) from the likes of vero TVs from the warehouse etc.

Not sure about how they get around the electrical certification for their Samsung/LG products though. Surely the different countries have different electrical compliance requirements etc even though the voltage might be the same?

        • @Zyo:
This product is from the UK and therefore only has 1 years warranty from Dick smith. It will come with a UK plug and a generic NZ wall adaptor which isnt an issue as the included dock uses a standard micro USB cable.

  • Does samsung pay work in NZ?

  • +1

(Does samsung pay work in NZ?) No

  • +1

    No pay options in NZ.

I got this about 2 weeks ago from Noel Leeming for $399.99 very cool device but honestly limited in functions. Research first guys

    • Hey does it support Android Pay? Or Google Pay now it's called

      • No it does not. The device doesnt run android it runs Tizen OS so you are very limited on what you can do. It does have spotify and health monitoring and the batteries decent but dont buy if you want to do NFC payments as its not there yet.

        • Ah right, that's really good to know, thanks!

  • It can support NFC and the old magnetic strip payments but NZ banks will not fund a new app as the market in NZ is to small .This is a Very well made watch .It is screwed together not glued and is more like a real watch ,not a small smart phone with a strap on it.
