  • Can you give an example of what the savings are like?

Depends on the products, some products such as older ones would probably get you more discounts, like the Sony Xperia X Compact Smartphone - 32GB Universe Black. I got $50 off the RRP. But if you try this on the newest Google Pixel 2 then you wouldn't get any discount at all.

      TL;DR: It varies with products.

  • Any idea how it compares to the AKLCOUNCIL one? Are all membership keys the same or do they give different discounts on different things?

    • Different membership keys belong to different pricing discount tiers in their system. Your best bet would be to temporarily add each to your account and see what the prices for each product become.

AKLCOUNCIL is in a higher discount tier

    • Nice, glad it's still working. I know for a while the discount where equal.

      • They'll probably suspend the codes soon…

        • The AKLCOUNCIL one has been around since 2015 and still works fine. So long as there are legitimate customers using that code, it's probably more trouble than it's worth to cancel that code and issue a new one to everyone (and probably have it leak again)

        • Maybe, akl employee discounts tend to change alot. Probably depends weather pb stys as a preferred supplier.

    • q answered nvm

  • Did they cancel the codes? I'm getting "Promo code MPSSTAFF is not valid", tried the auckland council one as well with the same message. I was trying it on full priced old stock items.

It's a membership key, not a promo code — create an account and add it on your account page.

Hmm, ive been using MTALBERT123 for a while, where does that stand compared to AKLCOUNCIL and MPSSTAFF i wonder.

    • Also wondering how the Wellington code compares FONTEMP964 ?

      • +2

AKLCOUNCIL is higher than than the FONTEMP one

        • Damn! Thank you!!

Here's another code you can try: DATACOM

I've gotten some discount by using that.

    • wonder if it's higher discount since datacom would use tech more

      • Appears not, AKLCOUNCIL is still the highest. :)

I’ll do a complete comparison this afternoon

    • Any update on this?

Apologies, ended up quite busy yesterday. Will do it now.

        See below. :)

    • look forward to this

I tried to changed the code in my Personal Detail(only 1), but in the basket it just showed all the codes are applied, how do i know which one is working?

  • +9

Okay, I've done a quick comparison across 3 different products. I can confirm that it appears AKLCOUNCIL is the highest discount tier of the codes.

    For a HP Probook:
    Public Price: $1449
    AKLCOUNCIL Price: $1434.05
    MPSSTAFF, MTALBERT123, DATACOM, FONTEMP964 Price: $1438.65

    For a HP Officejet:
    Public Price: $125.35
    AKLCOUNCIL Price: $116.15
    MPSSTAFF, MTALBERT123, DATACOM, FONTEMP964 Price: $118.45

For a Eneloop Pro Battery Pack with Charger:
    Public Price: $56.35
    AKLCOUNCIL Price: $48.30
    MPSSTAFF, MTALBERT123, DATACOM, FONTEMP964 Price: $50.31

From this is has become apparent that all the codes have the same discount, EXCEPT for AKLCOUNCIL, which is higher. The discount from the code also depends on the product, different products have different discounts applied.

This hasn't been done in a very scientific way, so I'd still try all the codes to check if what you are buying is an exception to the rule. :) Happy bargain hunting.

The N3 card code has identical discounts to AKLCOUNCIL

      • Wait what? Where do I get this? I have an N3 card from work but still struggle finding where we actually get discounts, the website is really bad at telling you.

        • On the back of (some) cards it has PBtech and a code
I had to ask for a new card to find it, but apparently the latest ones don’t have it (but the code still works)

        • @Esawers:
That explains it, we got new ones just before Christmas. It's a decent scheme but what you actually get discount wise is far harder to find than it should be.

  • BYOD123 works

  • Has anybody tried to pick up items that they’ve bought using aklcouncil and the like? For instance, if I was to buy quite an expensive item (using aklcouncil account) and wanted to pick up instead of delivery, would they ask for ID to prove I’m from said corporation?

    Cheers

Edit: accidentally clicked associated with pb tech

  • Looks like AKLCOUNCIL code has been suspended/cancelled - at least for my account. Only checked a couple of items. Maybe someone else will confirm.
