Vodafone Fibrex Offer - Too Good to Be True?

Hey all - we've received a targeted offer in the Wellington area from Vodafone.

A 200/20 plan on their FibreX network (including a free install and free modem) for $79.99 per month (or $69.99 if you have an eligible mobile plan with them) and a free 49inch 4K Panasonic Smart TV.

The only catch seems to be that you have to sign a 24 month contract.

I called up and asked every question I could think of, and it seems like a fantastic deal - but it's not advertised at all on their site so I can't link to it.

What do people think of the FibreX network vs Fibre (which we currently have). I know it's a hybrid of copper/fibre, but as far as I can tell it seems like a decent product.

For reference, we are currently paying $99 per month with Bigpipe for 200/20.

Keen for your thoughts!

Maybe checkout gpforums or geekzone for service feedback. Seems like a good deal to me Vs their current offer of 100 off for a 12 mo term

    • Thanks - I've just posted on geekzone after reading some horror stories about FibreX!

Reminds me of the deal we got - $300 credit + 6 months half price (so basically 7.25 months free).

FibreX is great, when it works. I'm not sure if it's because of the modem they provide (I've heard a lot of bad things about it) or something else, but in the last few weeks I've had the internet just stop working. Router and modem reset doesn't fix a thing.

But still, pretty happy overall. Great speeds - generally no less than 195mbps down and 19.5mbps up to a NZ server. They also seem to have good peering to the US, because my US VPN gets around 175 down.

    • Thanks, that's really helpful - are you on the 200 plan or the 700+? We're in Petone and I haven't found much online about the network in this area, whereabouts are you?

How helpful have Vodafone been when your internet has stopped working? What have you needed to do to get it going again?

Sorry, should've mentioned I'm on the 200/20 plan, in Hataitai.

Support has been fine (in terms of their willingness to help), but they haven't been able to work out the issue yet. Thankfully the internet seems to fix itself after an hour or so.
