This sound plate is essentially a solution to the often terrible sound you get from your HDTVs. Personally, I have a pair of Dell computer speakers plugged in to my TV as the sound is very bad. The TV essentially sits on top of the sound plate and is capable of producing surround sound as well as connecting wirelessly to various devices.
