Caltex Just Brought Gull

In a rather confusing turn of events, after Caltex sold its NZ operations to Z, they just brought Gull!

  • Forgive me if I'm wrong. Gull isn't currently listed and Caltex is listed on ASX- they could pull a Z and bank on a undervalued brand.

  • Caltex Au never owned Caltex NZ. It was sold by Chevron Corp to Z.

I don't imagine there would be much appeal for using Gull if their prices were to be raised to market price, I certainly wouldn't go there if there were same priced options, as others always have discounts. It'll be interesting to see if anything changes going forward, but I don't think it will.

    • Pretty much summed up why i haven't been to Gull for years, my local Caltex is 90% of the time the cheapest. hah petrol pricing is so messy now days.

  • Gull has confirmed it on Facebook:

Earlier today a conditional agreement has been signed by the Rae family with Caltex Australia to sell Gull New Zealand and our terminal. Don't worry the 'Gull Effect' lives on. Our brand and Gull team will remain unchanged. It's business as usual continuing to offer competitive pricing and discount days.
