Bikes from The Warehouse? Reliablity and Quality

Thinking of getting a bike to commute to and from university. Does anyone have any experience with bikes from The Warehouse? Specifically their brands such as Milazo and Accelor8. I know they sell the occasional Diamondback and Cyclops bike.

I'm not too fussed with the type of bike, I just want a cheap reliable bike that won't fall apart on me :P Their bikes go as low as $109 for a men's bike, so I'm just looking for any advice on what the quality is like.

I would personally never buy a cheap warehouse bike; basically you spend $100-$200, but they aren't built to last long nor are they worth anything when time comes to sell.

I would suggest spending a bit more ($400-$500) and buying a 1-2yr old second hand brand name bike that you will be able to sell for the same price in 2 years time without spending money on repair.

This, or if you can't find any decent second hand ones, I've heard the bike barns ~$500 ones are good value (nice to ride and last)

  • The warehouse bikes are fine for the occasional muck around, but if you are looking for something to get back and forth somewhere I would avoid like the plague.

It probably depends on the price. I haven't seen what they are currently selling, but at one stage they were selling some quite high priced bikes, and they looked to have reasonable components. But I have seen some bikes around that just have really cheap components, and quick for the parts to rust. I probably wouldn't pay less than $500 for a reasonable bike.
