Looking for Magimix 5200xl

Hi fellow cheapies, I am newish to cooking and getting a bit more comfortable and ready to cook new recipes…. And now in need of a food processor. From google, it seems like Magimix is highly recommended.

I am wondering if anyone come across a good sale of magimix before? Does it ever go on sale? Should I wait for xmas or its like Apple which rarely ever goes on sale?

Thanks guys!!

The 4200xl is currently $649 with postage included here

  • Ah. That makes things interesting. Lol. Do you know about these models? Would you recommend going for the 4200 as it is very good pricing!! Or would cost more on the long run?

Good find though. Thanks :) have to seriously do some thinking now.

5200XL for $765 delivered. Looks like they are about $820 locally.

Can't comment on the above, whether it's worthwhile getting the older models, but reading some reviews might help. They all seem pretty sweet.

    • Cool. Thanks 👍 How much is the limit again before custom put the gst on ?

Amazon add that cost onto the purchase price, so it's already included.

For other purchases, whatsmyduty.co.nz has a calculator.

        • Thanks Shaw. Very helpful :D

The standard colours look to be about $100 cheaper on Amazon Uk.

The only place I have seen them on sale is Harrods during the biannual sale. But the next one isn't until boxing day.

      • Does Harrods ships to NZ?

    • Hey guys. I'm about to buy from amazon. Was hoping to see some specials over the labour weekend but no luck. I'm wondering how does warranty works with items purchased over amazon shipped to here. Thanks guys!!!

From what I've experienced they'll deal with each situation case by case. With shoes they will send a new one out express and pay for return postage, but something like this may even be through the manufacturer directly. Probably best to contact their live support and/or the manufacturer and ask what the warranty options would be should there be an error.

        • Taken the plunge and purchased it tonight! Cant wait for it to arrive now. Thank you so much Shaw. Saved me some money :D

Asked amazon and they said it is covered under the manufacturer warranty, and if it needed to be send back, the cost of postage will be covered by amazon.

          @Alias:

No problem, happy to help out.

That's cool, suspected that'd be the case, they are pretty good with international customers. I was on live chat once and they were being pretty useless, then when I mentioned I was an international customer they changed completely. No idea why, but it worked in my favor.

          Enjoy!

    • Yup. First thing I looked at. Was hoping for some where else that might be cheaper and somehow not included at pricespy. Thanks.

  • Just an update: I purchased it from Amazon UK and unfortunately it came damaged in transit. I had a strong suspicion that the custom opened the box up for inspection and didn't repackage the box properly leading to higher risk of damage while in transit…as it arrived with half opened box.

Anyway, I contacted Amazon, and they re-order another one for me and dispatched it within days. They must have put it on fast mail as it arrived within a week all the way from UK.

I had to put the original damaged magimix in the post and man it cost around $270 to post it and Amazon reimbursed it within a few days.

Thumbs up all the way. Very impressed with their service. I do feel sorry they had to waste money on the postage as really i don't think its their fault, hope they can claim it from insurance?

    • That's unfortunate that it was damaged, but it's likely it could have been opened by customers, either outgoing from Europe, or incoming here.

Amazon have always been good with this sort of thing, and they are very likely insured for damaged in transit in one form or another.

Just goes to show how expensive stuff is to ship from here aye.
