Gull voucher obtained on discount days

Hi,

Just wanted to check that that the gull voucher sometimes obtained on discount days (well maybe other days as well, I rarely visit), the one with $5 off $50, $3 of $30; can't be used with the Countdown discount vouchers? It only mentions fuel cards but does mention one voucher per transaction and I'm assuming both are counted as vouchers so it's same diff.

Am I also right in assuming the $5 off, $3 off can't be used on discount days. Or maybe it's just something that's never came up as they always make sure their discount days are after the vouchers expire. (So next one will be after the 14th.)

Cheers

  • I don't see why the vouchers couldn't be used, as don't they take the price off at the pump?

Have a non staffed pump here, so don't get any vouchers.

    • Sorry forgot to update this. You're probably right they can be used. But I think it rarely arises given the timing of expiry of the vouchers and discount days. Wasn't testable this time that's for sure.

One thing I did confirm is that you can use both the supermarket voucher and the ones they hand out. At least the Sel Peacock Drive accepted it as did their system.

A few days before I did above, topped up a small amount at Pak'n'save with the 8 cent voucher. When checking my receipt, I suddenly realised I was confusing myself. The Gull vouchers are $3 off $30 and $5 off $50 or 10% off. So they are closer to 15-20c off per litre depending on price/l, I was thinking they're equivalent to 10c/l due to 10% ;-) In other words, even without using the 4c/l voucher which it turns out I could use, they're better than anything I normally get. (I don't think I've ever spent $200 at a supermarket. Even $100 is difficult a lot of the time.) I think I realised that once before and then forgot about it.

I was mostly trying to choose between that and getting an AA Smartfuel card as also just realised (at the time) you can get them without having to have an AA membership :-P Main thing is don't actually use the car much so often a fuel up a month is enough. In fact given size of car and how little drive, it isn't uncommon that can't do $40 or maybe even $30 (quite variable of course). I think I've only ever gotten 3 or maybe 4 of those Gull vouchers and maybe could have used 2 of the $30 ones, so wasn't that big a loss. I probably should start asking whether I'll get one since if I do then just get a small amount to get one. If don't because out of stock of whatever better to full up. (Although there's also a BP and Mobil nearby so if they happen to price match and have their own 10c day and I'm very low then they would be better.)
