Need a Good Deal on Microwaves

Anyone aware of any good specials going on currently for microwaves? Looking for one under $200, but one that will last well. As such not too keen on a cheap brand.

Thanks,

Here are some of the more popular Panosonic Microwaves (regarded as one of the best brands for Microwaves)

    Panasonic 25L Compact Microwave Oven - $149
    Panasonic 32L Inverter Microwave Oven - $187

    Cheap option:

    Sharp R200YW 800w Compact Microwave (White) - $105

    Less popular, but stainless steel:

    Breville BMO100 Microwave 25 Litre - $180

Microwaves go on sale very often so if you are willing to wait you can save $20 or so on those I've mentioned.

  • My Dad's microwave also ended its life a couple of weeks ago. It was a Sharp Carousel (very good microwave) and lasted about 20 years. I think it cost about $800 at the time and they were (and still are) one of the best microwaves around. He had another one spare (bought at a gala day or auction I think), but if he buys another one he's very keen on Sharp Carousel because many people have had long lives out of those microwaves.

Being a qualified chef and with operating his own catering company, a crisp and grill type microwave (Breville and Whirlpool make them) might also be on the cards. If you see any good specials on these brands ChoiceCheapies members, please let me know as well.

P.S. My Grandma's microwave lasted more than 40 years I think… It only broke down one or two years ago. The replacement was cheap, compared to the several hundreds of dollars it cost her in the 1970s. In fact, I think she used either Westpac hotpoints Credit Card rewards or Fly Buys to get the new one, and it has a convection and grill function.

  • Thanks Toddy for your contribution. I may have missed out on Noel Leeming promotion that finished only yesterday apparently..! Oh well, hopefully another one starts soon. Cheers
