These fares are with Air Canada, departing from Auckland. Air Canada is Canada's largest airline and its flag carrier, and runs a seasonal service between Auckland and Vancouver over the northern winter. Full details of the airline and its network are in our Air Canada airline guide.
Air Canada is a Star Alliance member, so you can earn and redeem points with partners including Air New Zealand, United and Singapore Airlines. As a full-service carrier, the economy fare includes meals and inflight entertainment, but check your fare type for checked baggage before you book.
These flights generally transit in Vancouver, Canada (YVR). A handy upside of flying to the US via Canada is US preclearance: you can often clear US immigration and customs at the Canadian airport, so you arrive in New York as a domestic passenger. For an overview of the airport and its connection times, see Vancouver International Airport on MinimumConnectionTime.com. Allow extra time for preclearance, and check whether you need a Canadian eTA for the transit as well as your US ESTA.
About the Destination
New York City needs little introduction: Central Park, the Met and MoMA, Broadway, the Statue of Liberty and the views from the Top of the Rock or the Empire State Building. November brings the Thanksgiving parade and the start of the holiday lights, December has the Rockefeller Center tree and the skating rinks, and January to March is the cheapest time of year for hotels if you don't mind the cold. See the official New York City tourism site for attractions and planning tips.
