Belkin BSV804AU2M 8 Outlet 2 USB Surge Protector Powerboard $38.61 + Shipping ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ PB Tech

250

Pretty good price as one with the 6 outlet is $48.
Noel Leeming has it for $39 - https://www.noelleeming.co.nz/p/belkin-8-way-surge-protector…

Funny they declined price promise instore when i went to Queen Street JBHIFI, store manager said it's below the cost price. I guess there price promise, no longer a promise - https://www.jbhifi.co.nz/pages/help-and-support/price-match-…
Price Matched it online with JBHIFI and was approved, as had gift cards to use and chose to pick it up from the same store lol.

Retailed at JBHIFI - $105, i guess they saw the drop and was shocked.

  • I got this, or one of the similar models, from NL last year sometime after the Jackson one I had kept overheating and failing, I think it was like $50-$60 at the time? It's a good multibox and considering all factors, this price is great - only downside is the bulky width factor.

Looks like all the models have some interesting price trends, but has been this price/close to it before

  • I just don't get how bulky these are

    • Plenty of dead space to them and the outlets are not even spaced out for bulky things. The 2 row design means that any large upwards facing adapters could end up blocking 3 other outlets on it - 5 if in from the end.

I don't get the desire to bundle a poor to mediocre charger into a powerstrip and make it cost more than the 2 things combined. Not even legacy quickcharge on this one.

Are people paying more because they think its so big sop must have more goodness inside it or something?

      • People pay more for this because of the reputability and reliability of the brand. As my comment said, I had another brand that at surface level offered a better box, but 3 in a row failed and I didn't want to deal with warrantying it again, so I asked for store credit (I bought the first one with a gift voucher) and got this instead. Zero problems with it. The only difference is the slightly annoying size and the other one had 1x USB-C

    • i think the bulk is so you can put your foot on it while you pull the plug out like a caveman.

    • I like the bulk because it means they always stay flat. The thin ones are prone to twisting

  • Please don’t buy anything with USB-A, paying slightly more to get USB-C would help you in the long run.

    • Not really, it's more for powering devices rather than charging them. I use the ports for Eufy cameras and Google TV

    • USB C is an absolute scam considering how most devices use USB-A. The amount of USB C - USB A adapters I have to get is absurd.

    • Virtually every device still has USB-A to USB-C cables. Very few are C to C

  • Still $39 at NL

  • Just ordered one from NL. It looks better atleast than the years old Philips switched strip board I have, which the indicator light died on out of warranty over a year after I purchased it from TWH !. . I noted too I think you can register this model at Belkin (Aus ?) for the free additional power surge appliance damage insurance. (?) 👍.

  • just a pro-tip for anyone with toddlers - do yourself a favour and cover the big inviting ON/OFF switch with some opaque tape.
