  • Wow, never new a fast food chain could do this…

  • "The entrant must provide sufficient information to enable the Promoter to verify the review and the entrant’s authorship of it."

are you sure it doesnt need to be your own review

    • I think that's just for if you win the free year of Carl's Jr.

  • NGL as much as I like carl's this sort of marketing gives me the ick…

Edit: not as bad coz it needs to be an existing review but still see a lot of people missing that stipulation (I did at first coz who reads the ToS😅).

  • RRP$10.99

  • This marketing strategy is crazy

  • This sets a dangerous precedent, allowing malicious reviews from degenerates or otherwise hungry ones in anticipation of future freebies from Carl’s.
The integrity of good intentioned reviews suffers, while reputation of innocent burger joints takes the hits.
    Here comes ComCom…

Haters please don’t downvote (others, please upvote to negate)

  • Put this prompt into ChatGPT and then upload the resulting image:

Generate an image of a google review of a fake New Zealand burger chain, showing a 1 star review with whatever you want it to say. Mark the date as before 30th September 2026.

  • I just got 2, I did search for burger on google, print screen in a random review and used it 2x

    • When does the code expire ?

  • A little known thing… it doesnr actually have to be burgers 🤣

    • You mean you can get other things using the Code?

      • I'm guessing they mean the review

        • Yes it says burger chain but nothing about the reviews being about burgers. You could have left a 1 star review saying I'm boycotting Maccas until they bring back Georgie Pie and it should qualify. Or a Wendy's review saying they have so many freebies I'm now obese and my doctor asked me to delete the Wendy's app.

  • Used ai, created a review and now I have lunch.

    • This is the way

  • Im going to say that I think this marketing is disgusting and I think I should give carls a 1 star instead.

    • I gave a 1 star rating for Carl's Jr St John several years ago. Screenshot, uploaded that and it works LOL you do that

      • thanks, just used my old kfc one.

    • (Replying richms) To be fair, only if that particular visit’s overall experience is bad.
What their marketing decision has done here is probably intentional and imho, evil since they are a global behemoth.
I quite liked famous star, now meh.

      • To be fair, only if that particular visit’s overall experience is bad.

its owned by restaurant brands whos cash cow is kfc, so upload a one star review from their other business.

  • This also works with temporary emails also, just got 3x codes.

  • Mine comes up that there is an error while placing my order :( has anyone actually been able to place an order in Christchurch?

    • yeah same here for auckland, I went to the store and placed the orders just fine using the kiosk

    • I placed mine at st johns and the staff told me it doesnt show up on their screen (technical fault) , she had to check the transactions on the kiosk.

      • I also went in store (Bush Inn) and it worked on the kiosk and then waited 30 min before asking where the burger was, and it also hadn’t gone through to the kitchen. Seems to be the same issue!

        • it only shows in the kitchen if you buy something else with your free burger, this company sucks

        • yeah, you have to tell the staff, such a design flaw. she was checking both kiosks for orders to make sure.

  • 3741 burgers left to claim as of time posting this comment

    • any ideas on what the second part of the ticket in /analyze might be? i'm lowkey not certain it's a sha digest, as chatgpt seems to claim (it's not always 32 bytes)

  • Honestly, I'm tempted to upload a 1 star review of carls jr on there lol

  • Thanks op, uploaded same screenshot, kiosks accept multiple free burger codes in one order

  • I just wonder who thought it was a good idea to have this sort of promotion

    • desperation

      • and the burger sucks, that is only eatable for free

        • To b fair, I actually preferred it over a big mac - but that's only because we're talking about burgers that are mainly just air.

This is a bold marketing choice.

There would have been a lot of discussion around the potential risks to Carls Jr brand by some percentage of people who find this tasteless, versus almost all publicity is good publicity and people love freebies.

They also recently did an activation on International Burger Day with talent dressed up in Carls Jr livery outside competitor stores trying to hijack customers to go to Carls Jr instead.

Checkout their Facebook page as well.

Normally they'd get hundreds of likes and comments on posts.

5 posts in the last 5 days for this, 12 likes for one post, 2-3 for the rest.

    Is not going down well.

I have no affiliation with any of these organisations.

    • Probably their high school intern that came up with this idea
