China Southern Airlines is one of China's largest carriers, based in Guangzhou. It isn't currently part of a global alliance, but it holds a range of bilateral codeshares and airline partnerships, and it flies from Australia and New Zealand to Guangzhou and wider China with onward services across Asia and Europe. About Tokyo
Tokyo is a city you can return to repeatedly without repeating yourself. Shibuya and Shinjuku deliver the neon-and-crowds version, Asakusa is built around the Senso-ji temple complex, Ueno stacks museums and a park into one walkable district, and Ginza handles the department stores and the more expensive end of dinner. Late March into early April is cherry blossom season, and several of the cheapest fares below land squarely in that window - which also makes it the busiest and most expensive time for accommodation, so book beds early. China Southern has loaded return fares to Tokyo from both Auckland and Christchurch, with a very wide spread of travel dates running from late October 2026 through to late August 2027.
From Auckland the lowest fare is $1181 return, on departures on 11 March and 14 March 2027. There's a broad band of sub-$1200 dates through March, April and May 2027, while the October to December 2026 departures sit closer to $1400 and the late-January 2027 dates hover around $1373.
From Christchurch the lowest fare is $1272 return departing 11 March 2027, with the whole March 2027 block sitting between $1272 and $1393. The January and February 2027 Christchurch departures are noticeably dearer, running from around $1362 up to $1513.
