  • Whoa, those are insane. I hope they have good crown control.

  • People will be queuing through the night for the ps5 with GTA6 not far away. Damn that is a great price.

  • If the line is longer than 50 when u arrive theres no point (if its the doorbusters u want)

    • That's assuming they are allowed to buy one of each, and that they all take up the offer.

        • Or gifts. Cheapies shouldn't be a scalper site

            • @Muzda: With summer coming if you get the opportunity to buy a 99 slushy maker and plan to sell it wait a few months…. ul probably gladly use it

      • "Maximum of 2 Doorbuster deals of 1 unit only per deal per customer. First in first served."

        • Now there are more than 2 door buster deals and people can get 2 max my original post about 1st 50 people no longer applies. I guess ud still want to be in the 1st 50 so you get the choice of deals

  • Yeah this one isn't even worth trying for the PS5. People are probably lining up now. Kinda what it should be selling for if it wasn't for RAMageddon sigh.

    • Lol, too right

    • With the CRL operational, there will be loads more people aiming to grab a bargain.

  • Additional deals have been added!

    iPhone 16e 128gb black half-price for $549.50

    iPad 11 A16 128gb blue for $405.50

  • it was $650 at release now $1048, that is more than my ps5 pro - https://www.noelleeming.co.nz/p/ps5-digital-edition-console-…

    • I got a PS5 with FA26 in November last year for $558. Writing was on the wall so I thought I would grab one. Didnt expect the price to double though.

    • That's crazy, I remember getting my PS5 with an actual disc cartridge for like 800$ or something during covid lockdowns, and it's now $1k+ for the digital only model!? Not even pro. Ridiculous.

      • yeah, and the ps5 is near 6 years now and appreciating, a pc with zen2 and a rx6700 would be on par.

      • Why was I negative voted lol? But to the above yeah it's crazy been out 6 years and the price is appreciating like crazy.

  • Hope the PS5s don't just go to scalpers

  • That's pretty good. I sincerely hope this stuff goes to good people and not on trademe

  • People be lining up already

  • How does this work? Do you go straight to the counter for a specific item or are the items are all on display to grab?

    • Dunno if its the same but at a noels years ago when they did this some staff walked the line just b4 opening and asked what people wanted and gave them a post it note to take to the counter when it opened, saves those black friday fights youd see in America

  • Weather forcast looks fine for an all nighter so a comfy foldy chair a powerbank for your phone and a flask of coffee should set up any aspiring early birders. Wonder when the first campers will arrive?

  • Whelp - great deal! Thanks OP

Just need $598 so can play PS5 while sipping some slushy 😅

  • Anyone driven past to see if there's a line yet? With those prices I wouldn't be surprised if there are people setting up by midday.

    • "driven", lol. Not in this economy! Will take a look soon

      • You didn't buy any of the EV 'deals' that were posted on this site?!

Although to be fair with electricity prices it's barely cheaper now, if at all.

        • Depends on your electricyt plan and your location. E.g. north vs south Is

      • anyone on the CRL can pop out and check to see if the queues are long please?

        • The Cheapo that had 5 coffees should just run over.

          • @Wakrak: No line yet. Totally empty.

            • @Matrixx: Its open now, just went in to get a catalog, staff said the queue will start tonight.

              • @coffeee: If we all just agree to line-up at 8, we can all get a good night's sleep?

                • @YourWorstThought: hahaha potentially, but the store wont open till 9AM, already past work time LOL

  • Cheapie bros. As of 4pm there is no one lining up.

There are promoters on Queen Street giving out pamphlets. They suggested that I go line up at 7am tomorrow. I said brochure. :)

    • Lol chur

    • Thanks for the info, might go but not sure.

Might just set an early alarm but check this thread for updates when i wake up, that can decide.

If any Cheapies are there early and notice 50 people or more there, please let us know :)

      • 8 people at 7pm. :(

    • As of 7pm when I left my office, there were 8 people in the queue.

      • Passed by Queen St just now (7.55pm), guessing 20-30 already

        • damn, so the best items to scalp would be the macbook and the ps5/iphone ?

          • @coffeee: Well above 50 people now. Most in line seem to be students and looking for iPads/Macbooks.

But there’s no numbering system so people will be bringing friends in the morning to queue jump

  • 80+ people in queue someone says on Reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/auckland/s/oJxsJ82NZr

    • 160 now

  • ~300 people now

    • I'm out, lol

      • just cause its a work day, if it was Weekend, i am sure hell lot of more.

  • Ps5 and neos unboxed on the marketplace.

    • already seeing someone listed the first one - https://www.facebook.com/share/19JHcXPgEL/

      • For those who dont follow the scene, Sony released an update yesterday to patch the hypervisor exploit so these should be able to run linux and your backups.

        • Is the patching of the hypervisor exploit confirmed? Cause that is really quick if true.

      • I see three unboxed PS5s there now, asking prices of 900 (your link), 850, 825. Wonder how low they'll go if more competition pops up. Could definitely get one of those three people to take 800 right now.

I'm guessing there might be a few of the 50 that get resold for 750 in the end. Maybe even 700.

        • This is what baffles me. If you're waiting in line overnight, buy the PS5 for $500ish, and then sell it for $7-800. Is the $2-300 profit worth it for all the time you spent in line?? Surely there's better ways to make a bit of pocket money…

          • @Makmak: To get $300 after tax at a minimum wage job you're looking at like 14 hours work.

Is it even easy to get a minimum wage job now?

What are some easier ways to make $300 in one day?

          • @Makmak: it was 2 'doorbuster' items per person, so if they were early enough to get a ps5, they would have also got an iphone or macbook or ipad, and will probably make an extra 200 on one of those. so 4-500 profit overall (or that amount of savings if they keep both)

          • @Makmak: You're assuming people are there to buy PS5s. The Apple Macbook Neo was $635 and RRP is around $1300 (sale price too). Even if they sell just one unit at $1100, that's still a profit of $465. If they sell 2, that's $930. Get your partner to line up with you and you get 4 total, that's $1860 in profit, all for just waiting a few hours. Clearly, there's a huge incentive for this. Scalpers usually make money because they have the foresight or insight to capitalize when others on sleeping on this stuff.

            • @Karens Hate Winners: I'm not 'assuming' anything. The subsequent posts mentioned PS5's - so my reply was in relation to that.

              • @Makmak:

Is the $2-300 profit worth it for all the time you spent in line?? Surely there's better ways to make a bit of pocket money…

If the only resale profit you're considering is the $200–300 from the PS5, then you're implicitly considering or assuming that the PS5 is the only thing they're queueing for — or at least the only source of profit being evaluated., that's why it was baffling to you.

The deal isn't specific to PS5s. I already explained that people can make significantly more profit on the MacBook Neos, which clearly can make waiting in line worthwhile, and you didn't actually counter that point.

A smart scalper isn't going to spend all that time queueing just to buy the one item with the lowest profit margin. They're going to look at the entire range of products available and prioritise the ones with the best resale potential. The only way the $200–300 PS5 profit becomes the relevant consideration is if you assume they're there solely for the PS5.

And even if you weren't making that assumption, then what's the point of your comment? Why would someone spend all that time waiting in line just to make $300 when there are other items at the same deal that can generate substantially more profit? Or are you simply trying to baffle yourself with a scenario that makes no sense, for no reason? It reminds me of a quote that someone famous once said - "if my grandmother had wheels, she would have been a bike".

    • Were they sold unboxed or something?

      • typo, i was meaning boxed.

      • as in un-opened

  • Line stretching to Taco Bell

  • Any of the 32 inch tv left at $99? If anyone is still there

    • if someone is there asking, can you also please ask if there's any of the Eufy robovaccuums left for 200

      • Queues that long, I wouldn't bother asking. Probably sell out of USB cables too lol. It's a slaughter house.

        • Yeah you must be right. was also putting robovaccuums in the unexciting category of 'vaccuums' when they're actually pretty exciting, haha

  • Staff member is manning the queue, all the Apple stuff is gone. Not unexpected though, unsure about the rest I had a friend in town check for me 😂

  • confusing major discounts offered luring in massive crowds to Queen st is revived Lol. Hype job
