    How can it need an i5-6600K with a GTX1070Ti and 8Gb RAM?

    I remember playing it back in 1993 on a 386 with 4Mb RAM and a 20Mb HDD.

      I've even played it on Gameboy advance emulators. Currently playing it on an old laptop with the WADs and GZDOOM with PS3 controller plugged in

      This has heavy graphics and multiplayer elements to it this is not a old version made to work on new software

        Not to an extent that should justify those requirements. Starsiege: Tribes supported 128 players in a fast-paced 3D game on a 166 MHz Pentium processor with 32 MB of RAM. Higher resolutions and smoother lighting etc. for a 2.5D game shouldn’t require higher recommended system requirements than e.g. Death Stranding.

      If your experience of a 386 with 4MB RAM is like mine your definition of 'playing' is very loose. Ran like a slide show, crashed like crazy and needed a boot disk to even get going.

      The current requirements more so extend to NightDive studios wrapping the game in their Kex engine which adds a greater overhead but it still pretty on requirements.

    I'm sure that there will be people willing to spend money BUT it does seem like a cash grab without discount (at RRP $19).

    I feel like I purchased the entire id software classic series at some point (including doom / quake /heretic / hexen) for around $5 but that was 10 years ago. Crazy that prices go up instead of down these days.

    I played original Doom series (and wolfenstein) when they came out and worth to buy at that time. 30 years on, I think you'd need to ask yourself if it's a worthwhile purchase, especially with better and more modern games you can buy for the same $$$.

    While its good to see a discount - I do note that Doom (2016) is also around the same price (on sale) at GOG - https://www.gog.com/en/game/doom_doom_ii

    Regardless I'm sure they'll be someone out there happy to see this deal :)

      You're right, the standard price has been $5 since 2015 and it's always on sale for $1.50. Microsoft bought id software in 2021, then in 2024 they jacked the price to $19, so this "sale" price of $7.50 is way higher than it's been for over a decade: https://steamdb.info/app/2280/

      Runs better if you just download the WADS and run them with GZDOOM. Alot of improvements since the dos release
