    • They usually do skinless for an extra dollar a kilo, so $9.99/kg

    • Skin-on has a lot more flavour depending on how you are cooking / using it.

      I always buy skin-on as you then have the choice, and it takes what, ten seconds to take the skin off?

            @Stoic used to practice on phone books, but they were too easy, so moved onto chicken breasts!

    • most likely due to the volume of foot traffic, you will have to go in and see if it smells.

      I guess it could depend on the supermarket, but I've never noticed that to be an issue.

      MB have a good number of stores, so unlikely to be an issue compared to the one-man band butchers I suppose.

    • I wouldn't imagine it's older, but it's almost always "woody". I stopped buying any meat from Mad Butcher recently. Between boar taint, excessive mince water etc, it feels like too much of a gamble to shop there - especially as we buy bulk.

  • It pulls off super quick & easy, fried chicken skin with a little seasoning makes a tasty snack.
    Mad butcher has put a court order on the the harvest market in Christchurch they can't sell meat for two years. Terrible for the harvest market and also the locals trying to save on food cost.
    Mad butcher is in riccarton 6-7 km away. Serms very unfair and doesn't gain them much. Limiting competition pushes up cost of living. Be great to have one of those government thingies lol

    • Fried chicken skin? Its light and crispy crunchy. Like the best roast chicken skin ever

      • I think they’re asking if it’s ‘woody’ chicken. I’d guess about 10% is woody? I’ve been making meatballs using a food processor with mine though, so I don’t notice anymore

        • Thanks. Chicken breast is also great for making your own chicken nuggets or bites. Have made bites just slicing into similar sized pieces. Also used a piece of ss pipe squashed into an oval to stamp out nuggets. Its a bit of a mess and hassle flouring and battering them but do a big batch and freeze them its worth it. Best nuggets ever
