[Android] UNTIL - Countdown Widgets App $0 (Was $1.99) @ Google Play

110

Built a small Android app called UNTIL after forgetting too many birthdays 😅

Most countdown apps felt cluttered or too productivity-focused, so I wanted to build something calmer and more minimal - focused on meaningful moments instead.

Features:
* Home screen widgets
* Repeat yearly option for birthdays & anniversaries
* Progress-based countdowns
* Minimal design
* No accounts or ads

Currently free for launch week before returning to the normal NZ$1.99 price.

  • Thanks All for the upvotes and getting me the "First Post Wonder" badge.

    Please leave a feedback, if you liked the app.

    • Hello aztlabs,
      Thank you for your hardwork! I'm not sure if these are bugs.

      1. After placing this widget on the screen. When i tap on the widget and edit the existing countdown (e.g. its name or date), then when i go back to the home screen, nothing changes, it's not updated until i re add it.
      2. Point 1 happens after i add a new countdown date , too.

      Hope this helps.
      Thankfully

      • The widget takes time to update. The OS throttles the update based on the launcher used. I will explore how I can update it faster. Thanks for the feedback

        • Thanks for the reply. I have been using an APP called Day Matters for a while, and it is able to update with no delays. I know it's quite an old app but maybe you can check on that, too.

  • This probably goes against the point of a 'clutter free' app, but it would be so cool to be able to pick and choose events from Google Calendar (or similar) to add to this (as I've got all my birthdays in there). I've been relying on Zhorn Birthday reminder for donkeys, but only ever worked on a fresh restart on PC so this is a great idea, thanks!

    • Thanks for the feedback.
      I also had the same idea. But most of our calendars are already cluttered and did want to bring them all in here. I am looking at option of selectively exporting events we want from existing calendar.

      Hi Chris,

      Just out of interest, if you have the birthdays in Google Calendar, why not have your reminders coming from there too?

      I also have birthdays in Google Calendar, and the reminders it gives me seem to work perfectly already.

      Why do you need another application installed? What is Zhorn (or this app) adding?

      Thanks,

      Alan.

      • Hi Alan,

        I have my work calendar synced with Google also, so sometimes there is 'event' fatigue (even with different notification sounds and such). A clutter free widget on my home screen giving me a countdown is a different, clearer option (that I'm yet to test if suits my needs).

        The Zhorn app is PC only and is grandfathered in, so to speak (pre selling my soul to Google), and runs on a simple excel sheet. I don't really rely on it as much any more as my computer doesn't get a nightly shutdown like it once did.

        • Okay - thanks. I have gone fully over to Google Calendar to avoid having things in multiple places, so kind of the opposite direction to you :-)

          So far, for me, it is working better, as I don't have to remember to check multiple places, but I understand what you mean about notification fatigue!

  • Thank you for the free app. I see you also have a fitness app RepFit on the Play store. I'm having a look. That's great for those days you get bored in the gym and want to do something different. Auto generate could be a bit of fun. The how to videos are great too

    • Yes. That's a personal project. I found I keep using the same exercises and spend way too much time between sets. So designed an app that would help me plan the sets. Timers for break and capture new records. Also has a nice share card. Let me know how you like it.

  • Thanks everyone for the amazing feedback and support during launch week. Really appreciate all the suggestions and kind comments so far.

    If you’ve been enjoying UNTIL, a Play Store rating or review would genuinely help a lot as an indie developer 🙂
