  • As a healthcare professional I can’t say how good or bad this service is.

What I can say is if you are otherwise healthy you can get extremely good personalised advice from ChatGPT for a low cost of $0.

If you do have medical conditions then your GP is a good place to start.

OP have mentioned a few specific groups, there are specialised government funded programs that specially cater to these specific conditions that would give you much better advice for free.

    Diabetes - diabetic support groups
    Pregnancy/breastfeeding - midwife

    Etc etc

Most important of all most university based programs are focused on information collecting. You are basically surrendering your personal information to them as extra data points.

    • Isn’t using ChatGPT surrendering your personal information as data points?

      • Just use a local version if you are really worried about personal information….

    • Dietitian here, just to share some general advice it’s always best to chat with a registered healthcare professional for personalised nutrition guidance. Dietitians are regulated healthcare pros certified by the Dietitians Board of NZ. And universities run these low-cost clinics to help train future dietitians and give them hands-on clinical experience

    • I get better answers from AI than from my local doctor’s clinic, and I still follow up with real doctors afterwards to double‑check. I wish I had known all of this when I was a teenager. Our health system is built to be reactive rather than proactive. Many medical practices and pharmacies — especially those that are owned or partly owned by the same groups — are structured to work the system. At one point, I even saw an ACC claim listed under my kids’ records that we never made.
