Looking for Mattress and Sofa/Lounge Recommendations

We have recently bought a house in Christchurch and are moving out of our fully furnished rental. As the new house has three bedrooms, we are looking to purchase one king mattress for the main bedroom and two queen mattresses for the spare rooms. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

For the king mattress, we are willing to spend up to $2,000, as it will be used every day and we want something good quality (not the cheapest option). For the queen mattresses, we are looking to keep the budget under $1,000 each.

We have looked at Ecosa and Flatpack Co mattresses, but since we can’t try them in person, we’re a little hesitant. We would appreciate any feedback from people who have experience with these brands.

We also need two sofa/lounge sets, as we have two living areas. One space will be set up as a cinema room, so we’re looking for a very comfortable couch for that area. The other living space will be for general use and guests.

For the cinema room, we are considering the MORIO Fabric Sectional Modular Sofa from iFurniture, but we’re unsure about the overall quality of their products. Any feedback on this sofa or the brand would be very welcome.

We greatly appreciate any help or recommendations.

  • Go and see Brownies Mattresses Moorhouse Ave. They usually will do a deal. Especially if your a 1st Responder or Emergency service worker

    • I second Brownies for the mattresses.

  • May be keep an eye on Facebook marketplace, as I have seen really nice Queen beds listed in fb, as people might be moving cities or abroad.

Also, heard on radio last day, that Brownies Mattress Moorhouse was doing a 36 months interest free deals on mattress with free pillows, bedsheets etc. Maybe have a chat with them and definitely ask for discounts.

Also, if you have plans to buy sofa or other furnitures, Harvey Norman Moorhouse or Papanui, sometimes do clearance sales, and you could get a nice couches for a good bargain.
Try Mocka. Enjoy your New house.

  • Ifurniture, Chch. 2 stores in the city I'm aware of.
Good quality and reasonable prices. We personally have bought our beds and mattresses there. Pretty comfy. No issues at all.
Or head up straight away to Harvey Norman, they have a good stuff there, but very expensive, I should say.
Whether your budget allows you — Harvey Norman can provide u with a wonderful range.

    Cheers…

  • If you're already heading to Moorhouse for Brownies/Harvey Norman, you may as well pop into New Zealand Bed Company (it's opposite Harvey Norman). I got a mattress from there which has been good. It was already on sale but was able to get a further deal talking to the instore rep.

If you are not in a rush, Smiths Auctions could have something (they should be posting their next household goods auction sometime this evening). Obviously depends on what kind of furniture comes up for auction but I've managed to snag some pretty good deals from them over the years. I got my super king bed + split base for just under $200. It was brand new as well, still had the original price tag on it!
