I've tried price matching with the warehouse but they said they don't have stock and they don't price match groceries
Can only pricematch instore as per title (I’m assuming you were trying to do it online).
Hi 👋
I went instore and picked up a few packs and was denied the price match as the Price Match was with Packnsave Queenstown and I'm in the Waikato. They said it has to be a local shop that you can get to, is this correct?
Thanks in advance ☺️
No. There just being difficult. Just needs to be in NZ. Some of there staff love trying to add extra T&C.
Thanks for the reply :)
Yes just bending rules to suit them (some people hates others getting great deals). I checked their policy yesterday before going into store - nothing about location. I managed to get the last 5 packs at my local store - staff member had no issue reducing price. Biscuits were so much sweeter knowing they were only 35cents. Noticed price has been corrected for PnS Queenstown now $3.49, I checked early so I saved myself a trip as was going to go to another Warehouse showing stock this morning.
I've been told that too at a store in Wellington. I didn't make a fuss at the time, but did check afterwards and there is nothing about it in the terms and conditions.
What store did you go to? Never had any issues at Hillcrest. Though can also depend on the person you get.
Edit. Looks like you’re in Matamata.
I've had this as well when price matching sunscreen. They said you can have one not the 2 units I was trying to buy. Its spiteful and adhoc which makes me not want to shop there. I have the best experience at the general tills not the support desk.
I'm in Wellington too and have given up trying to price match as they always say it has to be a local store!
did u try upper hutt
No, that's one i haven't tried, only because it's too far away! Have you had success there?
Yup Matamata
Just don't know what to do on the spot ya know, I did refer politely to the 'Price Promise' but was denied.
A shame because I thought it met the criteria. Ah well
No problems in dunedin i got 10!😮😮😮 Just luck i could go instore today!
Where in Dunedin were you able to price match? The Warehouse?
Tempting! But dangerous
the warehouse
Honestly we should start like a log or forum on stores which don't do the price match. Then at the end of year, send a file with the evidence to Commerce Commission. Because lots of these stores have massive advertisement banners everywhere, you find a lower price we will match or beat it. etc etc Needs to change some of these big box retailers behaviors. Like many have said they keep adding their own Ts and Cs
Yeah, and the really annoying thing is that it wouldn't bother me if they actually had as part of their t&c's 'must be local supermarket' or something. Or even if they didn't price match at all! But it is really frustrating to make a trip to the store and then get told 'no' when you carefully checked beforehand and what you are trying to do matches with their stated conditions.
i know what you mean, like like when they say limit of 3 per product and then the staff goes na it's 3 max products we can price match lol. But it's 3 PER product smh
great idea!
Good idea
Yes especially when you drive to a store, manage to find the item to proce maych instock and ready to go, then to be told by staff, which all have their own set of criteria on price matching- which doesn’t align to the price promise! Just frustrating as all we're after is a bargin at the end of the day which all adds up.
has anyone toold the warehouse where in the terms conditions does it say has to be local, what do they say
They say it just has to be local even thiugh it's not in the terms in conditions. In the moment of being at the checkout all you can do is accept what they say, and I've experienced it from a supervisor coming to assist in the requested price match.
Just frustrating, especially when you've driven in specifically and end up leaving feeling embarrassed for trying to get a bargin.
Would really love if people started making voice recordings (which is legal in NZ provided you're part of the conversation) when dealing with TWH and Chemist Warehouse. I've caught CW out before, trying hard not to price match, lying to me but then a moment later someone back tracks their statement statement and fulfilled the price match (very) begrudgingly. Plenty of other times prior I'd not recorded and I wish I had.
I record each time now.
so u record them with your phone, do they have to see that your recording them, or u can record them without them knowing
Legally in New Zealand, you may record any conversation, whether other parties know it or not, provided you partake in the conversation. So if you do it secretly, holding your phone with the screen locked but it's recording, it's legal. If you record a phone call, it's legal
You may even record private conversations with your bosses/HR (which you should always do) provided you're part of the conversation/they're talking directly to you. You may use this evidence in court, however the repercussion is that they may have grounds to dismiss you for 'breach of good faith' - which doesn't really matter if they were looking to get rid of you anyway, and you may catch them doing something incorrectly in the dismissal.
Warehouse silverdale worked. Thanks op. Got 12 packets for 4.20
Im glad im not the only one, i get denied price matching too, the staff do no abide by their own terms and double down when you explain it to them, The experience makes you less likely to support them.
I have been denied price matching for other things at the Warehouse. Called to complain last time, because it caused a bit of a commotion in store. The operator apologized profusely and gave me a $20 voucher. It pays to complain especially if it could result in them honoring in the future.
Just tried to buy in store but they were $3.49. Didn't want to complain, them figure it out and ruin it for everyone else price matching (where people could). Still $0.35 online though if anyone is doing click and collect.
i just picked up 4 packets for 35c each, the girl who served me was only like 18yrs old, was easy, didnt question it for a second
Its back to $3.49 online at pak n save queenstown 😪
thats a STEAL @Wakrak
