VPN Gate ia an academic experiment project at National University of Tsukuba, Japan.
This site provides free VPN service from volunteer servers for free access to the counties where volunteer servers are set up. Available for Windows, Mac and, iPhone/iPad and Android.
You can simply use their public VPN service as a client or join to set up your VPN server and help people who need free access to online information without authority's restrictions and censorship.
Support information freedom and help people from where information is restricted by authorities.

This is the parent project. VPN Gate is a child project of SoftEther Project.'

You'd think when the authorities come knocking on your door saying you're breaking into the Pentagon computers, the volunteers would have second thoughts 🙃.

Yeah would be nice to take part in hosting, but goes against terms of most internet services.
You are responsible to only allow authorised users to access the service.
You are responsible for misuse of the service.
You are responsible for costs incurred by the ISP for your misuse into the thousands.

this could be very important in the future if the government copies australia and the uk in requiring ids for social medias or 18+ content. thanks, guess i wont need to pay for nordvpn.


Can vouch for this. Used this 10 years ago to bypass company firewalls so I could access my personal work VM from my home. Has multiple options for relaying the traffic and if I recall it does UDP hole punching as well (just like how Teamviewer or other remote apps work).
