At around 15 bux a litre this is still a complete ripoff.
can you recommend one that is as good but cheaper?
Im not really an ice cream connoisseur as im lactose intolerant these days. but tiptop crave has my childhood favourites like goody goody gum drops, cookies and cream and they are 1.2 litre tubs, 8bux at woolworths. Theres always much more but depending on what range you get some arent even ice cream but "frozen dessert"
May be cheaper than B&J but I was gutted when they "promoted" goody goody gum drops and cookies and cream from the 2L tubs to the bougie 1.2L tubs that you pay way more for
@ZacDaMan: Yup I had the same reaction. They removed it 1st even after it won an award, then a few weeks later started selling it in their premium brand. Seems to be an American trend selling ice cream in smaller sizes for insane amounts which is ironic giving American products are normally bigger.
Haagen daz would of been the better alternative to b&j but they stopped selling in nz last year.
@Vishnu Masala: Just my personal opinion and I'd say it's like the equivalent of Maccas vs the likes of Carls jr or Pizza hut vs Hell pizza but in ice cream.
Brands like tip top are sure cheaper but I'd pick B&Js, Carls jr and Hell over the other and pay more as i find their products more 'flavourful' for me.
Kohu road is another expensive ice cream/gelato brand but their chocolate gelato, flat white and matcha range are superb.@F armer: I dont think they're super cheap anymore tbh but i dont really touch the stuff anymore.Funnily enough 1L of yoghurt is becoming more expensive than alot of budget 2L ice creams now adays.
I think b & j is too much for what it is, one of there selling points is mouth feel or some bs because one of the owners before they sold out to unilever has some strange ocd with food.
Grabbed one tonight, and demolished it tonight. Im thankful for Lacteeze being a thing
