How can you know? Is the (water) inside the beans or in addition to the beans % breakdown

The more pressing question for me is why does the essentials version contain rapeseed (canola) oil. Never seen that before in baked beans. Edit: seems to be a cheap way to add texture and fat.

Woolworths does seem like the better choice

I dont know,i just work here lol. I just used the information on the can.

IMO best mid range beans on the market.

What would you consider high-range and the differences between the two?

Probably Chantal Organics baked beans, they don't contain any preservatives/artificial anything, their maize starch is not modified maize starch and they don't use onion powder, they use real onions. It has more of a "homemade" vibe, the ingredients on the back are very simple. Second place would go to Ceres Organics but they use onion powder, however all the stuff they use is organic, its arguably "less simple" and contains a bunch of other ingredients.

We get the Macro Organic Baked Beans as they also don't have any preservatives etc but are really reasonably priced - $2.10 not on special, vs $4.29 for the Ceres organics at our local Woolworths

Its got 4% more beans, so less salt, carbs, sugar and more protien.
