Not sure if you can Quit after 1 month, if you can, then $2 for some games over the holidays is great.
Has a number of great co-op games to play with friends/family over holidays

Aus gets a better deal though, not sure if we can use that here.

  • I couldnt get the offer on my windows account, as I had previously subbed for $1 when it was offered around the release of the last halo game.
I might be able to claim it with a new windows account/log in.

I however it looks like the games are segmented in tiers now .
I was wanting see the hype around Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, they sweeped at the game awards.

    • It's a great 1st game from a indie studio, though Act 3 is pretty short. looking forward to see what they do next!

Currently a great free to play game for PC is Where Winds Meet

Essential is the crappy tier. Im good. Lower your prices microsoft and I might be a regualr again.

Instead of essential with a few crap games they should have a basic level thats cheap thats online play and thats it. I either want to play all their library, or none and just my gamea online

      • +1

Paying to play online in a closed eco system in 2025 is still mindblowing to me as a primary PC user.
This isn't just shade at Xbox, PS and Nintendo both pull this still too.

        • I semi understood it when it was hosting servers on Xbox and PlayStation, they aren't free and console players want push a button and join a game level service and that dies cost money.

What I object to was Nintendo charging us for P2P connections.

That said at least all services now bundle in some free games with what you pay.

      • Exactly. Having to pay to play online when it isn't hosted on their servers is a bit rediculous these days.
Even more so when f2p games are f2p online (ie rocket league)
But I agree with just wanting to play online or have access to the whole library.

brought a playstation as my xbox passes got too expensive now PS plus is ridiculously expensive so i have weaned myself of both
Xbox Game Pass alone generated nearly $5 billion in revenue during fiscal year 2025 and poor old PS plus only generated $4.5 billion

    • will be interesting to see how this increase affects it next year, I know I haven't paid for any since my stacked live ran out. But I also know a few friends who pay for ultimate at nearly $50/mth. ridiculous

      • +1

$50 is a crazy price, tell your friends they can buy 3 months of gpu for $29/mo from JB's and other places

        • Jb is $29 for one month?

  • +1

I bought one month Premium sub last month for $21.95 from my Microsoft balance after my Ultimate lapsed and Premium was due to renew in a couple days so I just cancelled it yesterday. Got an email last night saying they'd refunded $21.95 to my balance. Checked this morning and sure the $21.95 was back in there lol!

Also, they're offering me discounted Ultimate at 27 for first month and $69 for 3 months for some reason.
