So now I understand why PBTech removed AMEX from their payment methods…It's so people cannot dispute a charge…sneaky bastards
2 days ago I purchased 1x ethernet crimping tool. Paid via Eftpos where they send a code to your banking app.
It said I paid and ANZ showed the payment as processed but I never received a confirmation email.
So I purchased again using Eftpos and it went through and I got a confirmation email for the second purchase.
When I went to pick up, the lady at the store said she can see the first payment but no payment was received in the PBTech system.
I'm on the phone with ANZ now and they said the money has definitely gone out as it is a bill payment and not via Visa so no way of disputing the charge.
I also submitted a help ticket but nothing in the past 24 hours.
Definitely bad experience with PBTech double charging

Double payments or one failing and require re-processing can happen with any company. It's why I always use VISA credit or Amex as it's not my money. Often a double charge or failed charge can't be seen by the merchant, it will drop off your statement in a 8 days but it is a pain in the a* as the money is effectively blocked as 'pending' during that time. For example if your limit is $3k and you buy 3k flights and it fails, you are effectively unable to buy the correct flights until the 1st charge drops off as unclaimed by merchant.
