I was in the market for a lg 420l fridge but found the compressor (linear inverter compressor) were prone to failure a few years ago. Whether it has improved I'm not sure..

They often include a huge warranty on it but labour is not Included

They often include a huge warranty on it but labour is not Included

I'm sure you already knew this, but if it failed within what could be considered a 'reasonable' period for it to last (in my opinion that would generally be between five and ten years depending on the cost of the unit when purchased), then the fact that labour is not covered under their warranty would not have come into it - your rights under the CGA trump that.

The existence of a 'huge warranty' might be taken to mean that the period for which you could reasonably expect it to last was, prima facie, and at the very minimum, equal to the warranty period.

    • we have midea ones at work they are excellent for the price , they do also have issues but they are cheap and have warranty and CGA

I had many over the years and many different one at different houses i work . i find mitsubishi electric the best they just go and go well no issues

  • I have a spare Westinghouse that's still going after 20 years. The compressor was replaced after 4 years under warranty
I am not hearing good things about Samsung ? or it just their Laundry appliances ?

  • Mitsubishi is well regarded, but I really don't like their design. F&P is my pick, even under Haier. Nicely designed and solid

  • We need a new fridge too, unfortunately the width of the fridge space is only 63.5cm, so we have come down to this Panasonic 332L Bottom Mount Refrigerator. Anyone has any experience with Panasonic fridge?

    • No idea on the quality but if you have a look at PriceSpy the current price of $1744 is not great.
It was $1499 at Farrmers & Harvey's just over a week ago and was even lower at $1099 a couple of months back.
I would certainly be asking them to sharpen the price on this or shop around.

    • I want to echo the comment above by Savy101, Samsung fridges are problematic.

      • I thought it was mainly Laundry appliances?

        • Oh, I thought it was the fridges only!

  • Get an Fisher & Paykel RF442. They are 680mm wide and bomb-proof. Made at F&Ps factory, not Haiers

  • I went with LG as it was top rated in Which. Though in my opinion it’s a race to the bottom with most appliance companies. They don’t want them to last too long or you won’t buy another. The built in obsolescence is just like with mobile phones getting software updates that slows them down with more demanding software and incentivises an upgrade to a new model.
