I have been eagerly waiting for Sichuan airlines to do another sale. Does anyone know if there are any other dates or ways to get back home?

Edit: Just checked and 1 Feb and 8 Feb has a flight for $275

    • Which airline has return flights that cheap? Sichuan return flights looking pretty expensive

Sichuan fly all over Asia..by using first flight looks like Tokyo, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh are all on offer for $340.

    • First flight?

      • The Auckland to Chengdu flight..change hong Kong to any other destination.

        • You mean Auckland to HCM city is $340 or Chengdu to Hcm city is $340?

  • Any return ?

  • Anyone figured out a way to get a similar price to Chengdu? Showing over $500 for the first leg alone 😩

      • When will the $500 return flights come back? When they were on sale earlier in the year, the wife said no, but she's now keen to go. Just need the $450 or $500 return flights to Guangzhou/Shenzen etc. to come back. @Beatthatflight

I was starting to think they weren't, but then China Southern had a sale last week for Singles Day from Aus in the 400s return, so hopefully soon? No inside scoop tho, sorry, but I am regularly checking!

    • carry on only and exit the airport in Chengdu? Just book a return flight with a different airline. You won't get that price on the flight to Chengdu as the 2nd leg is what makes it cheap.

    • Working on it, but often flights TO the hub are more expensive than flights through the hub in an oddity of air travel :/

Currently in Thailand after a week in Hong Kong, second time there and 100% recommend it. Everyone says HK is expensive to visit but can fully be done cheaply, trams are 50 cents, the beautiful ferry across the harbour is 20 cents, plenty of cheap food options.

  • Has anyone here flown with Sichuan airlines? How are they? Compared to Air NZ/Jet Star/Qantas?

    • Sichuan Airlines is full-service, free 23 kg luggage, two proper hot meals, decent legroom on the AKL route (A350 vs 787 that used by other airlines) , plus no $150 bag fees or $20 for two pies like Jetstar. And I still remember during Covid-19, all Chinese airlines gave actual cash refunds on non-refundable tickets, Air NZ/Jet Star/Qantas only gave credits with expiry dates.
