Free Daily Data Clock Data through Data Piñata @ 2degrees

81

Data pinata is back again - slightly different again. Find items and battle others to get free data, can play on any network, but to claim prizes must have 2degrees.

From what I can tell, only your first battle each day awards a prize, if you win you get more data than for a loss, but is random. All data can only be redeemed in data clock app, as in you get 30min, 60min etc of free unlimited data. There are non data prizes too, looks like vouchers for The Warehouse, NZ breakers, Samsung and 2degrees. Haven't won one so don't know what they are. You can refer others to sign up, not sure if that gives you anything.

Clear as mud 😂

Data Pinata Offer:

Requires an active 2degrees consumer plan at time of redemption for Data Prizes. For Non – Data Prizes, an active 2degrees consumer plan is required at time of win. Ends 18.01.26. Data prizes last must be used within 24 hours from win. Ends 18.01.26. Data prizes last must be used within 24 hours from win. One prize per day, per person (excluding Bonus Data Prize). Redeemed via Data Clock app, see app for details. Non-Data Prizes must be claimed by 31.01.26. 2degrees may cancel or amend this offer at any time. T&Cs apply, see 2degrees.nz for full T&Cs.

Seriously over engineered for what it is.

Nothing wrong with the previous version.

  • Skinny has double data over summer promo at the moment for $17 plans or over at the moment. Previous years they did unlimited weekend data deals as the summer promo. Not sure why data is such a luxury thing in NZ. In Aus, you get massive data deals and they almost seemingly throw data away to customers like they're worth nothing.

    • What's weird is there is some great deals here if you work for them. Sparks data stack is great value once it accumulates, kogans bogof and 2degrees farm source offer are all decent. But the off the shelf plans from all the networks just don't represent good value for what you get. Either some networks aren't making any money from customers that know to jump through the hoops, or the rest are raking it in from the customers that don't.

      • Do you know if farmsource 2 degrees plan is eligible for this data clock?

        • I haven't tried it as i'm just piggy backing off that plan on a prepaid sim via smdata sharing. With 150gb then endless reduced speed data we really haven't seen the need to try for this offer. Might steal my wife's phone and try later on and feed back.

The "battle" is nothing more than a farce. You feel like you put in efforts that win you for instance 90 minutes of free data, and other days you try repeatedly to win, but always end up losing. On top of this some numbers are not able to call you if you are on 2 degrees. I got to know this from some of my friends and when I enquired, 2 degrees staff said my friends need to complain to their service providers. Not so much of help when employers can not reach you.

    • Yeah I am not convinced that the "battle" is a thing. Oh well, the extra data is useful for my commute anyway.

  • Can confirm - my kid is on 2Degrees and everytime I ring her, the first call goes straight to voicemail without her knowledge.
I always have to ring a second time to reach her. We are on the 26/month 10GB data and it rolls over, At the moment, sitting on 90GB each - so what's the point of playing for free data?

… what's the point of playing for free data?

      'Cause it's free!!!

      • 😂 let me get through my 90GBs first.

        • let me get through my 90GBs first.

My wife has done that in the past - she says something like, "I've got too much data!"

She then sits at home, turns off WiFi, and uses 4G / 5G data instead to run it down, rather than using our unlimited data fibre connection.

          Absolutely incredible thought process there!

          • @Alan6984: 😂

            I'm the opposite.
Except if I need to do something where I don't trust the WiFi, I'll be riding off anything.
But to be fair, if we go off grid over the holidays, that's when it comes in.

I like how I can also hotspot it to anyone I need - which I couldn't on Spark.

    • Is she using an iPhone? Sounds like your first call could be getting sent to voicemail by do not disturb.

      • Yes, she is! Okay, I'm an android user so I will check that. Thank you ☺️

        • No worries! If it's going straight to voicemail that's likely the case 😊

  • Bit of a downgrade from previous years where from memory you had 48 hrs to use the data.

I’ve been using it to watch the cricket, but have just had a warning text that I’m close to the 40gb ‘fair use’ cap for the month after which they’ll limit me to 1mbp/s. So it’s free data, but only if you don’t use it that much..
