My husband is looking to sign up for sky for a couple of months to watch the cricket - is there any cheaper alternative to sky? We do stream it currently but the site he uses will only play on laptop and won’t mirror to the tv. Is there a way of watching using Stremio? Any advice/options appreciated.

It won’t mirror but haven’t tried a hdmi so will give that a go. Thanks

Mirroring over your LAN is more convenient, but HDMI should work - just have to contend with the cable :-)

What cricket? The Black Caps are on free to air

Assume all the other games, i.e. Australia vs India, not just our national team.

Yup, that's why I am asking the question.

Know anyone with an existing sport package?
See if you can use their credentials via SkyGo
Depends which countries you are interested in - quite a few games are shown for free on icc.tv, if the rights haven’t been sold in NZ. There is an ICC app also.

Friend of mine uses an IPTV subscription and gets all the channels that way. Cant tell you which one it is though but there are surely many options out there. I considered signing up for Willow TV at one stage but you would need a VPN

FMHY maintain a list of free sports and other streaming sites: https://fmhy.net/video#live-tv-sports
I rarely watch Sky Sports but have used DaddyLive in the past to watch Sky Sports NZ/UK. Always with an adblocker like uBlock Origin in the Firefox browser and a VPN. If a match is buffering on the NZ Sky channels then the UK ones can often be smoother.

FMHY for the win

Going to try this tonight. Thanks.

Just wanted to say thank you, got to see ashes today which I just couldn't afford via sky.

I more often than not end up on www.smartcric.com. Use brave browser for popup blocking or it even has apk

This works but some buffering if not pay for better service. Usually can find one channel working

I use https://www.vipbox.lc for all my sports, a couple of times I've had to go with non English streams because the English ones were buffering too much, but most of the time they're quite decent, especially for the price… free.
Make sure you have an adblocker running, I use Adguard and Ublock Origin (both free) on MS Edge, if you don't use an adblocker you'll be in popup and redirect hell.

Depending on your TV, you should be able to get it from the laptop to the TV.
Worst case, if your laptop and TV both have HDMI, then just plug it in like that.
