  • That’s great they decided to make this free for life! I’ll be using this more often to learn more about my house plants I have and also to identify any while I’m out and about.

  • Can it identify dead plants? Plenty of those in my house.

  • Are you guys able to sign in with Apple or Google? I got the error : The operation couldn't be completed. Grow.AuthenticationError error 8.

  • Are any of these things that much better than just ChatGPT etc? Always wary of random apps like this

I don't even use chat gpt, just use Google lens, it's identified pretty much everything I've pointed it at. It does need an internet connection, but I'm guessing the app does too.

I have found that with other apps that are advertised here as a free life subscription like this, initially they are free, but after some time and updates, it ends, and goes back into free mode again.

  • I used to use the free version of PlantSnap. Have tried this one and it seems to work well. It’s easy to get an app onto Google Play but Apple’s App Store is strict so I’d trust this one.

I installed this last time it was free. Maybe a year ago or even more? Still working for me. I'd say it's "OK" Perhaps struggles a bit with NZ natives and some of our weeds. But as a general identifier on common houseplants and trees that are found worldwide it's good. You do get some sense of amazement when you take a photo of a random few leaves and it correctly tells you what it is.
