At the beginning of September I switched from Kogan to Telsim while waiting for a better Kogan deal to come up. However within a month I knew 4GB data a month wasn't enough for me and I wanted to switch back to Kogan, so I purchased the Large plan from Kogan. I didn't buy a sim thinking I could reuse it. This was my first mistake. Customer service told me I'd need to buy a new Kogan simcard since i'd ported my number already. No worries - ordered express shipping from the Kogan website and had the physical sim within 2 working days.
Next I tried to port my number from Telsim to Kogan and discovered Telsim wasn't an option in the network drop down menu. I picked a random one (Telstra) to see if it would work - didn't work. I asked Kogan customer service and they suggested selecting One as the network since Telsim utilises the One network. Didn't work.
Decided I must need to buy a new simcard to try port my number to, before porting to kogan. Bought a Skinny simcard, tried to port but kept running into errors. Couldn't get it going so i went off to the supermarket and bought a Spark and 2degrees sim in case.
First I tried Spark, it took 2 attempts but i managed to port my number to Spark successfully. It's active and I can now receive calls and texts without issue. Then I tried to port my number from Spark to Kogan but i've had multiple attempts today with no luck. I've used the Kogan help chat, and they keep telling me to wait for the 2-4hr period despite never receiving the TCF text message as I did with Spark. They also said my sim ID should be 16 digits but it's definitely 17 digits - i sent Kogan a photo of this at their request, they told me to omit the last number - no TCF sms received and it also failed to port.
Has anyone had any luck porting between Spark and Kogan?
I am most definitely regretting not just buying the Kogan plan to start with..
Would appreciate any tips if anyone else has done this recently!
TCF would be the right place to complain - after contacting Kogan and telling them to sort out their stuff… ie. Kogan doesn't have Telsim in the dropdown, and Kogan doesn't accept 17 digits SIM numbers - both of which are valid. I agree that's poor.
