Amazon US Package Held up

"UPS initiated contact with the sender to obtain clearance information. Once received, UPS will submit for clearance."

Bought goods from Amazon US and tracking says it's in Auckland with the above latest update as of yesterday.

Do I need to do anything and how long does it usually take to clear? I've ordered the same products before from Amazon US several times with no issues so just curious why it had been held up this time.

  • Sounds like it's missing import paperwork (invoice, declaration etc.) You could try and find out from UPS what's missing then contact Amazon to try and push them to solve the issue, or skip contacting UPS and just try and get Amazon to fix it.
    If I had to bet I would say you're never going to see it and it will end up refunded.

  • I had my package delayed 2 days past what amazon was saying itll be delivered by and they gave me a full refund, then about 3 days later it arrived, worked out for me well

    • Did you have to ask for the refund via chat or did they just automatically refund it?

      • I opened it on the last possible delivery date and it said to come to customer service after 2 more days, so two days later i just went to chat and they gave me a full refund, so i suggest just keep an eye on it and contact live chat after the last deliver by date

            @L3tstaxth1s: Sometimes the status update is delayed by day or 2. I have seen package delivered, with the status still being from 2 days back. So it can go either way.

  • Had the same shit awhile ago but said NZ customs are waiting for clearance info from Amazon.

    I started a chat with Amazon saying what is happening and how there is nothing I can do it's on then.

    Got a full muilti hundred dollar refund in about 5 mins. Then ended up getting the goods delivered a few days later hah.

  • They wait for Amazon to contact them with whats in the package etc, happens all the time for me when dealing with Amazon AU orders with food products etc. Amazon AU seem to be pretty onto it sending the customs stuff in advance most of the time, at worst a few days delay.
