[PC, Epic] Dying Light: The Beast $59.99 @ Epic Games

90

The new Dying Light game launched today. It is $99 on Steam, $109 on Xbox and PS.

However, it is $59.99 on Epic Games Store. It is likely a pricing error as the base + deluxe upgrade comes to $73, whereas the deluxe version itself comes to $116.

As a bonus you also get $12 back onto your Epic Games Account as store credit. I purchased the game and can also say it is not a weird currency glitch and I was charged $59.99NZ.

Still shows that price for me on a private tab. Did it not finish the check out process?

I bought on steam but only played an hour. Refunding that and buying this.

  • I'd tell you to let me know when it hits $10 but games don't do that anymore and they're now just full price forever.

    Back in my day…

    • Sometimes I like to check my Steam wishlist and chuckle at the fact that No Man Sky has been out almost as long as Sky Citizen has been in development and it's still $85. RDR2 (6 years) $100. Horizon Zero Dawn (6 years) $90. And so on.

Might have to do with everything going fully digital… its a bit sus.
PS6 won't even have a disc drive probably. Everyone was outraged for the Xbone One doing the digital game DRM thing but we've kinda forgotten about it now.

      • It's funny because there was a golden age, maybe 10-15 years ago? Streaming providers (music and video) were low cost and few, with huge content catalogues. Games were being discounted down to ten bucks within around 3 years and geopricing was in full swing and VPNs plenty. There were even streaming gaming services, like Stadia and GeForce Now with competition and reasonable prices.

I pretty much had entirely stopped pirating media. I thought it was because I had more money but it turns out it was because it wasn't a gigantic hassle to consume what you wanted to consume at that time.

I don't really game anymore, but I do run a JellyFin instance within the last few years that fetches what I want to watch as it's released and I have just the one app on my devices and not 10 different subscriptions.

Hell, my Android TV set can't even use Netflix because it's not on some certified hardware list, but my wife uses Amazon Prime and whatever and I have found myself on occasion fruitlessly searching titles to "see if they have it"

If I did game, I probably wouldn't be buying them again.

  • Still working, thanks OP
