Air New Zealand: Honolulu, Hawaii Return from Auckland Direct $953, Christchurch $965, Wellington $968 @ Beat That Flight

100

Air New Zealand has a rather large international sale on, and I spied this deal to Hawaii. The dates may vary a bit, but basically I tried to narrow in on the dates that are under a grand return…

Edit: Interestingly there seems to be a lowering of prices from other airlines, so do check the dates you want as I've seen similar pricing (sometimes even lower) now from United, Hawaiian Airlines, and to a lesser extent Fiji Airways.

Summary:
Auckland - Honolulu (11 Nov 25 - 29 May 26) from $953 return
Christchurch - Honolulu (28 Oct 25 - 5 Jun 26) from $965 return
Wellington - Honolulu (6 Nov 25 - 5 Jun 26) from $968 return

Christchurch - Honolulu on Air New Zealand return

Wellington - Honolulu on Air New Zealand return

  • US has doubled the entry visa, now $68. The US under Trump can go *$!@ visit itself.

worth noting that 1) it's valid for a 2 year period and 2) it doesn't increase in price until Sep 30th so if you are planning on going in the next two years, apply now

      • This. Takes a while to complete but ultimately not difficult.

  • Flights there may be cheap because of the drop in tourism, but the cost of food and transport while there is crazy expensive.
It may sometimes look cheaper on face value, but then add the minimum 18% tip and 4.5% state and local tax required on everything, and suddenly it's cheaper to pay extra in airfare and go somewhere else.

Plus, as soon as you apply for an ESTA, they will check all your socials. So, taking a burner won't do anything. And if they suspect you've cleaned your social up, they have timelined records.

    • Unless you linked your social media to your national ID there's no way they would check that.
There's a section on the ESTA application where you can add those, but it's optional.

Had a co-worker whose family went to the USA this year.
The wife put down her Facebook account, and the ESTA process was smooth.
The husband didn't put down any socials, and he was slow rolled for a month.
He got the ESTA in the end, though, not sure if he has any socials tbh, wouldn't be surprised if he didn't.

Hawaii does have have tourist taxes like 11% for short term accommodation + tipping and yeah state tax too.
So AucklandCheapass is right, you need a decent wiggle room if going to Hawaii.

        • Wife and I had to transit through LAX on the way back from Europe a couple of months ago so had to get the ESTA. Didn't put down any socials (we do have them) and they came back approved almost instantly. YMMV I guess.
