Bosch Wiper Blades @ Autoignite

Hi team,
Looking at buying some wiper blade replacements. Have ruled out Wipertech due to mixed reviews online. Zeroed in on Bosch Aerotwin. This website Autoingnite seems to be selling most Bosch wipers cheaper than SCA and sometimes Amazon AU.

I considered price matching at SCA, but would like to support a small business if possible but there are only like 4 reviews on google. They seem to be related to Pertoject (another parts webiste).

    Costco usually stock bosch

  • I have received Bosch wiper blades from Auto ignite this year, agree with choosing Bosch

  • Check Aliexpress. They are pretty cheap.

  • Bunnings has Michelin approx $20 each

  • Bosch aerotwin are some of the best around. I've used Auto ignite before and they're fine. If you've got SCA trade access these drop by about 50% though.

  • How long do you expect them to last ?
In the waikato, car is in the garage at night at home. But all the blades I came across (ali, generic repco) last about 6 months before leaving water mark and then squeaking at 12 months. Are those $60 Bosh/Michelin last longer ? And do you refill them or buy new complete blades ?? Any good advice on refill from ali ?
Or just keep replacing them every 6 months ?

I'm in Auckland, and the car is kept in a garage too.

This is likely just specific to me (being crap at it), but I noted the same things in the same kind of timeframes when I replaced my blades.

Then I happened to get a credit from Toyota as a reward / prize for filling in a survey (I think it was $100), and I couldn't really see any way to use it (without spending a load more, such as on a service, and they charge way more than my mechanic, which is likely what they hoped I would use it towards!)

Then I hit on an idea, I got them to replace my wiper blades for no cash outlay (as the credit covered it).

Those blades are still going three years later, and no water marks / smears, and no squeaking.

The interesting thing is, they said it would take twenty mins to do, and I could wait or come back, so I elected to wait in their 'lounge' area. A few mins later, they came and apologised that it would take longer as they were out of the right blades, and they were sending someone up to SuperCheapAuto / RepCo (I can't recall which) to get some, so whatever blades they fitted, they were something you can buy at one of those stores.

My guess though is that they fitted them better than I do and / or they adjusted the wiper arms better than me when they were done, and it had nothing to do with the blades themselves.

      • How much adjustment can you actually do with a wiper ? Need to GPT this …

          I find it really difficult.

The problem is that I flick the wipers, and then try to grab the blade as it's at its further reach towards the driver's window (which I have obviously wound down before starting), but I keep missing it - the bugger is just slightly too fast for me!

After a few attempts, my arm starts getting a bit tired, and that makes it even more dangerous, as I find I start swerving around on the road, and the look of absolute terror in the eyes of oncoming traffic can be a little off-putting as well.
