It seems that you now have to spend the minimum required amount on top of the free item cost. Previously if an offer said you would get a free item worth $10 by spending $30+, then the free item would count for $10 of that $30, so you only had to spend $20. Now you have to actually spend $30 to get the free item. This is happening for everyone right, not just me? I noticed this with the McDonald’s Free Big Mac combo offer that started today.
Yeah, it's a shame. Only worth it now by combining it with weekend cashback. 10% existing is pretty low, but I believe ShopBack calculates it before discounts are applied.
