It is strange that buying from supermarket channels is cheaper than Havana direct even with a subscription.

Includes whole bean, ground etc. all blends.

They probably run some multi-year contract or something but never personally seen them under $6.00 even at PN.

$5.99 Kilbirnie (seems the magical PN this week)

$6.99 Mt Albert Auckland, Hamilton, Christchurch, etc. (seems the general sale price)

$8.39 Dunedin, Queenstown (seems to be missing)

    The BBD on those is January 2025 ? The stuff they sold in Kilbirnie when I checked in-store was December 2025.

  Supply and demand in action. When they cried about inflation and global bean shortage it flew up to $8.39 so we bought laffare gusto instead for $7 and now Havana likely noticed a huge drop in sales and is trying to undercut laffare. It works because at this price I'm defaulting to buying Havana.

    The legend (or rumor) has it that the stuff they sell at The Warehouse is L'affare contract roasted.

  I'm guessing this is either expired or expiring. Coffee deteriorates pretty quick after roasting, so unless this has manufacture date less than 3 months ago, I'll spend the extra couple of $ to get something fresh.

    I was there yesterday and the package said December 2025 (expiry/sell by date) and I've had a go at it this morning.

    Whilst it does not indicate roasting date, I found it as good as fresh direct from factory works or moore wilsons almost next door to the roastery.

    It's in a sealed plastic bag with appropriate ventilation valve. Also have tasted it and it doesn't differ much - ideal is 1wk roasted wait given the off-gassing.

    Different storage mediums preserve / affect the taste after the off-gas waiting period. James Hoffman also had a vid about it.
