    Reviews don't look good.

This place is not worth it

  • i have never been here but they have been advertising this deal for a while now, i remember during octoberfest they used the belgium flag instead of Germany.
i looked at the reviews on google and the meal does not look appealing.
a good German type place is dermetz in kohimarama.

Been there a few times. Now, it's not as horrible as the reviews go. The food tastes nice. Of course, I'm not German, so can't judge from that angle. But for the price, it offers a solid big breakfast.

My friends like the pastries, I find them a bit dry. Personal taste.

Buffet of sausages and eggs, bacon, hash browns etc are fine. Nothing wrong with that. Juice free coffee machine (fancy coffee offered on the side menu).

If you're looking for café style level, then maybe not. If you want to fill up with some good bacon and sausages and eggs, that's a good place to go.

I just don't see the point of cruel remarks, I've been to worst places. I don't mind going there a few times a year with husband when we're kid free.

    • I work about 50m from this place. It's not bad if you like German food (but then Germans don't like German food in general so it's a matter of preference).

Agreed with @toomanywises above. I never understand why people feel entitled to give their opinion on things they haven't even tried. Must be a 'previlege' thing. Lol

      • Absolutely agreed. The place looks cool, food is yum and always warm. Don't know if they wanted beer on tap for breakfast, but don't hate on it, right?

You wouldn't be paying this much for the amount of food you can eat somewhere else. It does the purpose, and I personally like it. And I like my fancy places too!

I have not eaten there yet, but the irony has not escaped. this is just a regular British breakfast ("Bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, courgettes, cooked tomatoes, baked beans, sausage rolls, " ) in the German place. That list of items is pretty much the same (oh, not the courgettes, I see) anywhere you go in town, so why the fuss about this being German?

    • The owner himself is German so I believe it stuck? 😂
He also owns another one in Avondale. I wouldn't class it as German, but they have some $13 lunches and tbh, it's worth what you pay and it's better than some grub from the nearby places.

      Not clued on what makes a meal German, so we'll wait for a national? 😅 😅 😅 😅 😅

      • I was in Munich a couple of years ago and ate at a restaurant the had big pretzels in the middle of the table for you to eat. Maybe that's what makes a meal German?

        • I guess so.
I went to the Bavarian (used to be in Newmarket, now it's gone) and they had pretzels. Hard to eat, hahah) - no pretzels for Breakfast, but hats off to anyone who has a big one with their morning coffee? 😅

  • The breakfast is not bad honestly for the price. Just don't have your expectations too high. It's just a normal breakfast, nothing spectacular but honestly really good for the price of the buy one get one free thing.

Now the buffet dinner. Bro I gotta hate on that. Not very good at all IMO. Breakfast is a yes, dinner hell no xd.
I'm not even being harsh there are so many other places to go for buffet dinner that are better lol.

  • I have eaten there and wouldn't go back. If you eat heaps it's probably good value. The food is definitely nothing special - eg there are 2 large pots of baked beans that taste like a house brand reheated, with one containing cut up frankfurters. No tasty German sausages like you would expect. Coffee is mediocre. Pastries are probably the highlight. Downmarket, crowded, queues, uncleared tables that you have to share, filthy carpet underfoot. Seems like a lot of locals or backpackers trying to eat as much as they can to get their money's worth. I opted for the free/cheap parking but the receptionist didn't enter my rego right or at all so I got threatened by Wilsons repeatedly for months
