Samsung S22 Ultra - Bootloop Issue - One UI6.1

Hey Team,

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this bootloop issue in the last month.
Googling around shows that the One UI6.1 is the killer for the motherboard. Mine updated on the 1st of April.
Mine started on Friday morning, unsurprisingly 3 weeks after my 2 year warranty ended.
Will be taking it back to Noels re CGA but wanting to know if anyone managed to find a fix or something. Its a great phone just doing silly things now haha

Tried all the troubleshoots, wipe cache partition, haven't done the factory reset yet, all reported that they have had no luck with it so holding out before I lose all my data.

Gutted this didn't happen when those S24 ultra was on sale the other week ahah!!

Cheers,

  • Following as i have an s24u and my wife has a s22u (not updated).

Does it appear to be a common problem or just isolated?

    • I messaged samsung to troubleshoot and as they haven't taken an official stance on it, the service desk wasn't couldn't advise much other than the basic nor could make an official comment that the UI was the issue.
All that I've seen online in every forum and video has been in relation to the UI6.1 and seeing as it only happening lately I'd suspect that be the case. The general online comments for this fall into its now an expensive brick haha!
I did ask if the UI7 could fix it but got a response saying focusing on the S24s at the moment and all else will take its course.
Guess I'm just sad cos sh*t is expeny and the samsung phone I'm on now working fine as and it's from 2018 ahaha

My S22U had the same bootloop issue 2 months ago, out of warranty as well. None of the troubleshooting steps worked.

I had to take it to the Samsung Customer Service Plaza and they fixed it under CGA, process took about 3 days. They said the motherboard was faulty and had to be replaced. Unfortunately all the data on the phone had to be wiped. They said I could go to a data restoration company to retrieve the data before they wiped it but as most of my data is backed up, I didn't see the need to.

        • Thank you for letting me know about this. Sorry to hear this happened to you too, I'm based on Central Lakes so will have to do it all through Noel Leeming.
Is it all working again for you with the fix?

@qtboi: Thanks. Ah, I see. Hopefully, you won't have to argue with Noel Leeming too much about repairing it under CGA.

Yes, the phone is working again and running OneUI 6.1, since it is the latest it can update to. I hope it doesn't kill it again if OneUI was indeed the culprit. Previously, I also used Maximum processing speed all the time, but I'm now using Optimised just in case that contributed to the issue as well. Trying to keep it alive a bit longer before I have to replace it.

            • @philyy: That's great to hear! Yeah I've always had it on the optimised and the automatic restart for optimum thing. Sent it away yesterday so hopefully all is well in a fortnights time!!

If you are comfortable you can try flashing the firmware using Odin. Official firmware shouldn't have any detrimental effect on the security of the device, as opposed to a custom rom.

I assumed that this is the model, only NZ one I could find, but definitely confirm first: https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-S908E/XNZ

How to flash Samsung SM-S908E / Galaxy S22 Ultra SM-S908E firmware
    1. Extract (unzip) the Samsung firmware file. Recommended using WinRAR or 7-Zip
    2. Download Odin Tool 3.13.1
    3. Extract Odin ZIP file
    4. Open Odin execute file
    5. Reboot Samsung phone in Download Mode (hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons / hold Volume Down + Bixby buttons then plug-in cable)
    6. Connect you Samsung phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
    7. Add the 1 file Samsung firmware to AP/PDA or 4 files Samsung firmware (AP/BL/CP/CSC) to it's slots
    8. Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
    9. Click the START button, sit back and wait few minutes

    • Hey thanks for this!! Ive popped the phone onto the store but definitely keeping this on the back burner going forward.
