UK/Europe Sim/Esim suggestions

Has anybody been to the UK or Europe in general recently? If so, how did you manage getting anew sim card?

I'll be flying into London directly, can I buy an Esim at the airport?

On a side note, due to 2FA, I'm thinking of leaving my NZ sim in my phone with roaming turned off. Will there be any issues? Don't want to come back to a big bill!

I have an iPhone 15 if that helps.

Thanks

  • I usually use saily and no issues. They usually offer referral and discounts.

Can also do a 3 hk sim which covers that area
    . It's very cheap

Note about 2fa..if its text change it asap if possible..it's not a good way of 2fa even more so now your going overseas.

  • Last time I used holafly, unlimited data for a set amount of time. Worked great all over Europe

  • Will WhatsApp still work with both sims in?

  • Yes, Whatsapp is internet based. Long as you have Internet

    • Makes sense, for some reason I thought WhatsApp accounts were tied to the phone number for verification. Just curious if it'd work without my number being active overseas

  • I am going aswell. I have been watching, asking etc and learning to be able to make an informed decision.
Don't roll your eyes, TikTok was best and up-to-date information. The posts aswell as the comments.

I am about to purchase EUROPE eSim from sim corner. 60 gb for 30 days for eg. The lady has a discount code EXPLORE5.
This works all over Europe. You can buy a 200 gb card also.
You don't use or remove your own sim but i think in an emergency situation I would want my original at any cost.

    Good luck. Enjoy your holiday.

  • I thought it best to add

Check your phone is Esim compatible

Go to Settings > General, and tap About. Under Carrier Lock, you should see a message that says "No SIM restrictions."

For Android: proceed to your phone settings > Connections/Phone/More connections/SIM card Manager, if it has eSIM section, it is compatible.

  • Thanks everyone! Looks like I have a few options to consider

  • I'm also going to Europe and was planning on using Airalo, especially because Shopback has them (currently at 25% back). If anyone used them would be great to know how it went.

  • +1

I’ve used Airalo all over, no complaints at all,I get the eSIM up and running just before I go so it connects as soon as I arrive.

  • Roamless is my current travel eSIM.
Before that used the free offers from Redbull and Eskimo with no trouble.
