Unsure what the deal is here OP. Perhaps more of a forum post?

Might need to edit your post and tick the associated box too.

Doesn't the IRD have a calculator on their site already? Does this have any additional features?

    • They do have calculator but you have to manually calculate

What’s the reason for using this tool to check first rather than just logging into your MyIR account where it gives you the actual refund or amount due to you personally?

    • No reason automatic refund is not due yet
And someone on tiktok literally charging people 3$ for a excel sheet that i made free
      https://vt.tiktok.com/ZShsccVDW/

      • Fair call - guess theres a market for it then.

Now go make a viral tik tok to get people to use it instead of paying $3 haha

So the real reason i posted here is because this guy on tiktok is litterly charging people $3 just to find out the tax refund or owing

And its available on ird website but you have calculate manully how much tax refund you will get or you owing tax refund

I think this is a great reason to do this, OP. It's not going to be useful to everyone, and I'd estimate that the Cheapies community may not be your target audience, but it's really good of you to put something out into the world to help people.

  • whens the IRD going to show the refunds ( or payments ) its all computerized right.

Yes, all automatic. It's just out of curiosity if you want a rough idea so you are prepared if you owe to IRD.

  • It's difficult to calculate with all the term deposits interests, rebates etc. in addition to the annual salary.

  • So annual income means just salary, right?

    • No, means all income including salary, interests, rebates and other forms of tax deductible income

    • So annual income means just salary, right?

It means all your taxable income from all sources.

If you have rental income, investment income (interest, dividends etc), or other taxable income, then you'd need to account for all of it.

Many people only have salary / wages. If that's you, then that's all you need to enter.

      • But not PIE income, which may come from investments, Kiwisaver, bank accounts, etc.

  • I don’t this calculator is correct. My only income is salary but it does not account for the ACC earners levy which needs to be subtracted from the total tax paid before being put in the calculator. It will always show you a high tax refund if you are owed one.
