Temu Shopback Class Action Lawsuit, Shopback Is Scamming

The annoying thing is, you put in a cash back request and they simply delete it and give you a generic answer.

I am going to the commerce commission as shopback has acknowledged multiple times they are aware with temu issue but they continue to advertise it leading to sale under false pretenses, I'm not 100% sure what we can get them on yet but I'm not happy, its damaging their brand and I'm also wanting to make a class action suit, I have reached out to some legal representation. If you would be interested in joining we will need to have proof you have already tried to request missing cash back, plus all the details of the cash back.

  • NZ doesn't have 'class actions'. There is representative actions. You will need a lawyer, and expect it to cost a fair bit.
Small claims (Disputes Tribunal) might be an option.
Fees are staggered, based on the amount of money you’re claiming for:
    Under $2000 - $59
    $2000 to $4999 - $117
    $5000 to $30,000 - $234
You can’t claim this fee back even if you win.

I suspect you mean that they might work on a contingency / success fee.

Pro bono means you don't get paid at all - usually reserved for charitable works and similar, not something like this.

I have enough legal knowlege that I will work pro bono as its all about the principals!

            Are you a qualified lawyer?

Would you be your own client?

While this doesn't help you in any way, note that Temu affiliate tracking tech is known to be iffy and many users have reported not receiving cashbacks while shopping on Temu (regardless of which cashback provider they go with).

On Australia we've seen complaints from Cashrewards users(ozbargain.com.au) and on Reddit's Rakuten USA(reddit.com) similar complaints exist.

I personally don't shop on Temu anymore as I've found most of their items really garbage (and I hate the minimum spend threshold), but if you do want the best discounts on Temu, it's generally better to just use the first-time customer coupons for an upfront discount rather than a cashback for an "eventual" discount. You can usually find such coupons using Coupon aggregator sites, and Micrsoft's Edge browser also has a coupon finding feature too.

If you are having a 100% failure rate with Temu cashbacks then you might want to look into your browser settings, you may have an extension enabled that interferes with tracking (e.g Adblock, extensions that inject their own affiliate links, or other privacy focused extensions) or you might have used coupons that aren't approved by the cashback provider.

    • thanks for that, some do track, most dont , and im most peeved that they will not acnolege the missing cashbacks , that tells me its a scam , 100%

Cashrewards is so much better than Shopback, Shopback is borderline scamming the cashbacks as you say, 100% off new users on Temu is BS.

    • cashrewards is hard to find nz specific deals for me

      • Ah OK, I just use it for Temu, Aliexpress and Ebay purchases.
Even though the deals are for Aus, they still pay me out to my NZ Paypal account in AUD.

The only way these cashback sites survive is by shaving commissions.

  • My gut feel it's more the shop than the cashback site itself.

Some shops seem to have almost instant cashback 100% of the time and some seem mega iffy as (profanity).

  • ive never had any issues at all! I even had an order from shein done inccorrectly and was fixed right away chemist warehouse on the other hand is a nightmare!

Probably using an Adblocker that always causes issues.
I just use edge for shopback transactions with just the shopback extension and firefox for everything else.

    • it tracks in shopback. means they see the click.

Sounds like you got too much time on your hands. I get where you're coming from, but how petty is it that you're suing a company because you didn't get cashback. I mean, it's such a minor thing and yet you're putting in so much time and effort to file a class-action lawsuit.
