  Did this flight back in March. I did a around 15 hour layovers each way. Tbh I won't be doing that again. Sure, do it one way to see Fiji, but I was pretty disappointed about how dirty Nadi was, and how everyone wanted to talk to you but you ended up realising they're trying to soften you up for your money.

  Didn't have a lot of time to get anywhere else though, which could have been nicer areas.

  Would still fly Fiji airways to Tokyo again, but only doing the shortest layover I can. Not worth leaving the airport imo.

    Agreed. Fijian cities are rough as guts and offer very little.

    And I'm a guy that loves the dirt and grime found in parts of South East Asia.

    Yeah, if you have 15 hours I'd suggest the best way would be to find a resort with a day fee to use their pools etc, and just chill out in the private venue.

    Otherwise the China Airlines option is a good one(beatthatflight.com.au)

    Nadi isn't very nice (except for the Indian temple). South East of the island is where all the decently priced resorts are.
    Suva is a hole, although I did get SEALED PS2 like games God Hand worth hundreds for around $10 Fiji dollars in 2019 because the locals preferred the PS3/PS4.
    I don't think the concept of retro games is widely known on that island.
    The people are great, though the villagers live in shacks without power or running water they seem to be happy.

    Priority pass makes the return leg much more bearable at 3am waiting for the 10am flight.
    FJ lounge is decent but can get busy

        their lounge is nice but they are strict about the 3 hours before flight… so for these long layovers… there is nothing much to do in the airport.

          @huffboy: Yes they did let us (Among many others due to an early arrival) in anyway but its entirely at their discretion.
          We just wanted a nice couch to sleep in rather than the plastic chairs that are outside.

          Limited food options at that time too so pack a few Onigiri from 7/11 before you take off so you have a nice snack in between flights.

    A quick look on google map shows there's really nothing in Nadi other than a beach. So pretty pointless if you are going from NZ.

    I really don't understand why people go to Fiji to holiday

  Take a 5min walk to Fiji Gateway Hotel $40FJD day pass to use the facilities, and they then give you $40FJD F&B credit to use. I belive its $30FJD per child as well.

    Not that I'm aware of :/ Could try a return to Nadi and a return from Nadi to Tokyo, but their purpose is to draw you to Japan, I guess.
