Can I list a car for sale on TM with no WOF?

Can I list a car for sale on Trademe with no WOF, as long it is disclosed as such and listed as is, where is? If so, do you add as a listing photo the WoF sheet showing what failed? Cheers

    Yes. Just make sure you say it in the advert, and get a written (write it yourself and get them to sign) confirmation that they accept this.

    Which is what you should be doing for any car with a WOF over 30 days old anyway.

    This is a perfect question for AI, and it's pretty accurate for things like this. You'll find it's at least reliable as asking random internet strangers on a Cheapies forum 🤣:

    You must:

    • Inform the buyer: Clearly communicate to the buyer that the vehicle does not have a current WoF or that it's older than one month.

    • Obtain written confirmation: You should get written confirmation from the buyer acknowledging that they are aware the vehicle doesn't have a current WoF and that they will not drive the vehicle on the road except for the purpose of taking it to get a new WoF or for repairs needed for a WoF. This protects you as the seller.

    • Sell "as is, where is": The vehicle should be sold on an "as is, where is" basis, meaning the buyer accepts the vehicle in its current condition with any existing faults.

    There is no need to show the failed WOF, but it may help the sale process and get a higher price if the defects are minor.

      Fair call and google AI gave me a similar response when i looked, but was wanting practical experience from Cheapies who may have done it themselves 😉

      "as is where is" has no legal meaning, and will not protect you legally. Hence why you need to get written confimation of acceptance.

      Sure, most people don't. But most people would b screwed if they were actually taken to DT or court.

    you can list any car in any condition WOF/REGO or not. Just state that and sell it 'as is'. If you want to list the WOF check sheet that will be helpful for people.

    When listing a motor vehicle on TM, do questions and answers get posted for all to see like other trades? Or remain private between the question asker and answerer?
