Recommend a Shed

What sheds do you recommend, there's seems to be so many companies selling them

For example trade tested have some with a free keter storage unit which seems a good addon..

But are they any good?

Looking for a 3x2 or 3x3 type side shed to store suitcases and home stuff you use once a year .

Many thanks :)

  • I actually got a used portacom unit maybe 8-9 years ago.
It’s fantastic as it’s got insulated walls and is fully watertight so I can trust that stuff in there will be better protected unlike a cheap garden shed (plus it’s rock solid, ain’t blowing away in any storm.)

Plus it has the advantage of not needing to pour a concrete slab to build it on - I just popped a few cheap fence posts on the ground and it sits on them.

The downside is that all up it costs more then most people spend on a basic garden shed. And you’ll need to hire a hiab to lift it into place for you which is easily a few hundred dollars (if not - thousand depending on location/size/distance drive etc)

The upside is that when I moved house a few years ago, I just got a hiab to move it to my new place. The move cost less than buying a new shed.

  • Been looking myself, different purpose though.

Settled on the NZ made steel sheds that have the partial timber framing, special order from bunnings but you could get a pre made timber floor etc

  • When we bought our shed, the primary factor was the size.

I had a specific position it was going in, and I wanted to maximise the space utilised, so I bought the one I found that fitted almost perfectly.

It was just something from M10 - I'm no expert, but they all seemed much the same anyway, and it has been fine.

  • If you are in Auckland I would highly recommend checking out Skyline Buildings Garden sheds(from the good old days). I recently bought one and the construction is solid. Much sturdier (also more expensive though) than a lot of the Bunnings / Mitre10 options.
